An Unexpected Sensation novel Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Howard sounded a little surprised, but he agreed anyway, not wanting to upset me.

After hanging up, I removed the baby monitor in the living room.

By the time Howard arrived, it was already dark. He looked at me with concern, but seeing I wasn’t ready to speak, he didn’t push.

He went straight to the couch and began setting things up as usual.

“Not here today. Let’s go to the bed,” I said lightly without looking at him, and led the way to

the bedroom.

After a moment of hesitation, he followed.

He didn’t use any essential oils this time. As his gentle hands moved over my chest, I no

longer tried to suppress my desire.

After just over an hour, Howard’s face was flushed from my reactions. He pulled his hands back and started packing up. “You’ve made real progress, ma;am. Things should be easier from now on—”

Before he could finish, I stood up and pressed my lips against his.

He was startled, instinctively trying to resist. But then he saw that I was nearly naked from the waist up.

His hands hovered awkwardly, unsure where to place them.

I chuckled softly and whispered in his ear, “Dr. Tate… is this not okay?”

No man could resist such a provocation, and Howard was no exception. He let out a low groan and pushed me onto the bed. Perhaps because of his experience as a lactation consultant, he was skilled and gentle.

Mindful that Olive was still asleep nearby, we kept our voices down.

The entire experience left me completely satisfied.

Afterward, Howard seemed a bit frustrated, clearly annoyed with himself for losing control.

Seeing him like that, I couldn’t hide my disdain.

Men were always like this. They enjoyed it in the moment, only to regret it the second it was over. Where was all that energy earlier?

Besides, he had been the one pushing boundaries first, testing how far I would go until those

lines blurred.

“You can go,” I said, waving him off without a trace of attachment.

He hesitated, biting his lip as if he wanted to say something. But ultimately, he left in silence.

Over the next few days, I invited him over almost every day. I couldn’t tell if it was to punish Kent or to punish myself. With Howard, I was only looking to have some fun.

Since Kent had already betrayed me, there was no reason to stay loyal to a broken marriage. I might as well enjoy myself a little.

Sometimes, the adult world was just that harsh.

I could feel that Howard’s feelings for me were a bit complicated; there was a hint of guilt and concern mixed in.

After finding out about Kent’s affair, I understood I couldn’t count on anyone else. It was better to raise Olive on my own.
