Chapter 112 We Are Not Teammates Anymore
Just like when she brought this up to Timothy before.

The only difference was that Jayson and his team were unlucky. The first thing they ran into was a level 3 mutated zombie.
Jerome had no idea about any of that. So how did all the blame end up on him?
Thinking about Jerome’s quiet personality–how he barely defended himself even when he was about to die–it suddenly made sense why he had been pushed out when he first joined the superbase laboratory in her previous life.
He was just too naive.
Yes, she wanted Jerome to develop the zombie cure as soon as possible.
In a way, she was using him.
But at the same time, she would treat him like a real teammate and protect him.
That was her way of repaying the future Jerome for creating the zombie cure.
Hearing her sarcastic remarks, Jayson and the others looked pretty ugly.
It was obvious she was defending Jerome.
The problem was they had no ground to argue back.
And with Cecelia’s strength, they really weren’t in a position to challenge her right now.
Still…
ayson looked at Timothy with a serious expression. “Timothy, I didn’t know this woman had a grudge with someone on your team. But I don’t think now’s the time to talk about that. How about we sit down and discuss how we’re getting into Merriton together? When we withdrew from there, we saw mutated rats he size of dogs. They’re extremely dangerous and hard to deal with.”
To put it plainly, he wanted to cooperate with Timothy’s team.
With his team’s current strength, going into Merriton alone against those mutated rats would be dangerous.
The whole “Jerome is bad luck” thing wasn’t completely made up.
But he had deliberately revealed it in front of Timothy and the others.
His goal was simple–get them to kick Jerome out.
Even if they didn’t, at least they’d start seeing Jerome in a negative light.
After all, they had already offended Cecelia.

If they wanted to cooperate with Timothy’s team, the best outcome would be for Cecelia and Timothy to clash because of Jerome.
Once the team started splitting from the inside, that would be the perfect moment to step in.
Jayson’s plan clicked neatly into place.
Timothy glanced at Cecelia, who had already turned away and was leading Ivy and Amber back toward the vehicle. He frowned slightly and said to Jayson, “We don’t know when the mutated rat swarm will stop. We need to observe the situation first.”
Jayson’s eyes flickered. “Timothy, do you know anything about this rat swarm?”
“No.”
Timothy hadn’t even answered yet when Hendrick spoke first.
His sharp eyes narrowed slightly. He looked at Jayson with a faint smile. “There’s nothing to discuss. If you want to pass through Merriton with us, then follow orders.”
In other words, if Jayson’s team wanted to cooperate, they had to follow their team’s arrangements.
‘Alright.”
Jayson agreed without hesitation.
There was a simple reason. He could tell Timothy and Hendrick were stronger than Cecelia.
That alone meant he needed to build a good relationship with them.
A little temporary concession wouldn’t cost him much.
Meanwhile…
Beside the off–road vehicle.
Seeing the smile on Jayson’s face, Ivy suddenly felt uneasy. She looked at Cecelia and said quietly, “Cece, it looks like you were right. Timothy and the others really are going to cooperate with Jayson.”
“Cooperate?” Cecelia said calmly. “More like Jayson shamelessly forcing his way in. With their strength, dealing with those mutated rats would be tough enough. They’re just looking for protection another way.”
In reality, Timothy and Hendrick weren’t idiots. They could already see most of Jayson’s intentions.
So it didn’t surprise her that they agreed to cooperate.
As for whether Timothy would fully accept Jayson’s team after they passed Merriton–that was hard to say.
Either way, it had nothing to do with her.

Cecelia couldn’t be bothered to think about it anymore. Her gaze shifted to Jerome sitting inside the
vehicle.
She knocked on the window.
Jerome paused, then opened the door and looked at her.
‘Get out.” Cecelia said.
‘We’re staying in town tonight. No need to stay cooped up in the car.”
… Okay.”
Jerome’s eyes darkened slightly as he replied.
In truth, he wasn’t bored at all.
Because he had heard everything they said. Every little scheme on everyone’s mind was crystal clear to nim.
Including Cecelia’s plan to form a new team with Ivy, Amber, and him.
Cecelia led the three of them around the town and picked a cleaner house as their place for the night.
Amber glanced toward Timothy’s team in the distance. Only then did it hit her–by following Cecelia and [vy, she had actually moved farther away from them.
She had already felt something was strange earlier.
In the end, she couldn’t help asking Cecelia why they were staying so far from Timothy’s team and whether that would be inconvenient.
Cecelia answered directly, “Starting today, we’re going our separate ways from their team. The only thing left between us is temporary cooperation. We’re not teammates anymore. Got it?”
