Chapter 201 Roadblock

The arrival of that small zombie swarm, along with a level 4 mutated zombie, left no time for anyone to think. Running was the only option left.

On the other side, in Morton’s convoy, Mark frowned and lowered his voice. Captain Carter, two military SUVS are heading straight for us at a high speed.”

Morton glanced behind him. Two?

Yes, just two. They’ll probably reach us in 15 minutes. Should we

Before he could finish, Cade came sprinting over from the back of the convoy, panting hard. Morton! This is bad. A small zombie swarm is closing in from six miles out. It’s heading right for us

As he spoke, he kept shooting Morton exaggerated looks.

Morton’s mouth twitched. Of course he understood what the kid was trying to say. Turning to Mark, he ordered, You and Glen go notify Mr. Madron and Ms. Lowe. Get them onto our vehicles and move out immediately.

Got it.

Mark didn’t hesitate. He quickly woke the rest of the team, including Rex and Sabrina in the RV.

Rex shoved the door open and climbed out, already irritated. What the hell is going on in the middle of the night?

There’s a small zombie swarm coming. You two need to get in our vehicle and leave now.

We can’t take the RV?

It’s too slow.

Fine, I got it. What a pain.

Rex turned and went to wake Sabrina.

She had only just gotten up, her eyes still hazy with sleep. Looking at Mark, she said softly, Thank you coming to warn us. We’ll get in the car first, but this RV

Hearing her gentle voice eased some of the tension in Mark’s chest. He hurried to reassure her. Ms leave the vehicle here for now. Once the zombie swarm passes, we’ll have someone come back and away.”

Okay.”

Sabrina really was reluctant to leave the RV behind. She had grown used to living comfortably in the apocalypse. The bed in the RV was soft, and there was enough water to shower every day. If she could travel in comfort, why should she suffer instead?

Of all times for a zombie swarm to show up, it had to be now. Just their luck.

Frowning in annoyance, she followed Mark with Rex and climbed into the military SUV. The vehicle was cramped and reeked of sweat, making her instantly uncomfortable.

It stinks in here. Open the window,Rex snapped at Mark, wrapping an arm around her.

Glen quickly turned on the AC and said with a grin, trying to smooth things over, Sorry about that, Mr. Madron, Ms. Lowe. We’re a bunch of rough men. None of us has had a shower in over half a month, so the smell kind of built up. Please bear with it. We’ve only got another fifty or sixty kilometers before we reach Sanctum City. There’s some kind of base in the Western District. You two can get a proper rest there.

Rex let out a cold snort and looked ready to say more, but Sabrina pressed a hand to the back of his.

Before he could speak, she smiled gently at Glen. Thank you for the trouble.”

She really was beautiful when she smiled.

The thought flashed through Glen’s mind, and he stared for a split second before shaking himself out of it. He turned to Mark and said, Captain Carter wants our three vehicles to take Mr. Madron and Ms. Lowe into the city first. Don’t worry about what happens on his side. Just drive.

Understood,Mark answered curtly.

Without sparing a single glance at Rex and Sabrina in the back seat, he slammed on the gas.

The two vehicles that were arranged to follow behind wasted no time and sped after him.

Within minutes, all three cars had vanished into the night.

As Morton stepped out of the vehicle, he watched a familiar military SUV drive straight toward them.

He shot Cade a look. His sharp eyes narrowed, dangerous and cold, as he gave the order in a deep voice. Stop them.

By all logic, after driving 20 miles, they should have left the ordinary zombies far behind. But the swarm was still advancing. And that level 4 zombie was still chasing them too.

Even though they had managed to open up a good distance, Cecilia and Timothy had no intention of stopping.

Regina warned them that there were people up

ahead.

Hendrick said, Doesn’t matter who they are. Go straight through.

The zombies behind them were the real problem. But when they finally got a clear look at the people ahead, they realized the road was blocked, and every one of them was a burly man in camouflage.

Eight inen stood shoulder to shoulder, each holding a submachine gun. Some even has rocket launchers aimed and ready. They were clearly forcing them to stop.

Timothy and Hendrick both sucked in a sharp breath and had no choice but to slow down. If one of those rockets fired, it would blow both them and the vehicle sky high.
