Chapter 215 What It Means to Make It Back Alive
“No need to bring it up again.”
Hendrick pressed a hand to Matthew’s shoulder and pulled a level 4 mutated zombie crystal from his pocket. “Whatever happened before, we made it through.”
“That’s right. Matthew, don’t think about it anymore.”
As Timothy spoke, he looked at Ivy. “Is it that the crystals aren’t enough? We still have level 2 crystals. Can Ryan be fully healed?”
“Yes.”
Ivy said, “Give me two more level 2 crystals.”
“Okay.”
Timothy didn’t hesitate and handed them over at once. They had collected quite a few level 2 crystals already.
There was nothing to be reluctant about if it meant saving a life.
Ivy poured more healing energy into Ryan. The pale golden light spread until it covered his whole body.
About ten minutes later, Ryan suddenly broke into a violent coughing fit and slowly opened his eyes. But because of the trauma to his brain, his eyes were still bloodshot.
“Ivy? Timothy? Hendrick…”
When Ryan saw Hendrick and Matthew standing there safe and whole, relief spread across his face. “That’s great. You’re all okay. Cough, cough…”
“Don’t move.”
Timothy immediately pressed him back down. “Let Ivy finish healing you first. Whatever you want to say can wait until you’re better.”
“Yes…”
Ryan really didn’t dare say anything more. The healing ability gradually eased the pain throughout his body. But his head and chest still hurt. For now, though it was pain he could endure.
More than ten minutes passed, only after Ivy had completely exhausted her ability did Ryan’s injuries finally heal in full.
He looked like he had come back from the dead. In the next second, he jumped straight up from the stool. “I’m fine now. Thank you, Ivy!”
Then he grabbed Ivy’s hand and started shaking it enthusiastically. Ivy didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Pointing her lollipop at Ryan, Cecelia sneered, “Let go. Stop taking advantage of the chance to cozy up. And don’t even think about shorting us a single crystal.”
“You…”

Ryan’s temper flared at her sharp tone, but the moment he saw that it was Cecelia speaking, the fire died down just as fast. He let go of Ivy’s hand immediately and explained stiffly, “I was just excited, okay? Ivy didn’t even say anything. Why are you so petty… I’ll obviously pay the crystals back.”
He pulled a level 3 crystal from his pocket and slapped it down on the table, lifting his chin at Cecelia. “There. This is the one you suggested I use before to level up.”
Cecelia’s mouth twitched. She gave him a flat look. “Very good. Looks like you’ve actually made some progress lately.”
She was mocking him again. Ryan could hear it, but he decided to ignore it. Because he was starting to understand something.
Cecelia had a vicious mouth and never let anything go, but she was like that with everyone. As long as he didn’t react, her words couldn’t get under his skin.
After giving himself that little pep talk, Ryan pulled out two more level 2 crystals and pressed them into Ivy’s hand. “Ivy, this is payment for healing me. Tell me if it’s not enough.”
“It’s enough.”
Ivy smiled. “But next time, you really need to be more careful. Don’t be that reckless again. This time you were lucky. You were treated by another healing ability user before you got back. Otherwise, if you’d rushed back in that state, even I might not have been able to save you.”
“Yes.”
Ryan rubbed the back of his head. “I’ll remember that. Next time I’ll be more careful.”
“It was all because of me.”
Matthew let out a sigh. “Hendrick got knocked flying, and I used my ability to stop the level 4 zombie from getting closer. But I had only just leveled up, and my earth wall wasn’t solid enough. The level 4 zombie broke through it and charged Hendrick anyway… After that, it seemed to decide I was even more annoying and came for me instead of him. I reacted just a split second too slow, and Ryan got caught trying to help
me…”
What happened when a level 4 mutated zombie caught someone?
Cecelia lifted a brow, suddenly thinking of how Ryan had died in her previous life while trying to save Ivy. This time, it had nearly happened again.
Only barely, just barely, had things turned out differently.
“What happened after that?”
Ivy couldn’t help asking. “How did you kill the level 4 zombie?”
“It didn’t kill Ryan right away. While it was busy attacking him over and over, Hendrick and I joined forces and ambushed it.”
Even as Matthew spoke, he still looked shaken.
Only after seeing Ryan standing there without a single trace of injury left on him did he finally feel that this nightmare was truly over.

“It’s over now.”
Timothy looked at Matthew, Ryan, and Hendrick. “As long as everyone’s okay, that’s all that matters.”
Regina laughed at him. “That’s not what you looked like earlier. You were panicking like crazy at the checkpoint. If Mr. Carter hadn’t reminded you, you would’ve driven the cargo truck straight into the Western District.”
Timothy coughed into his fist and felt all eyes turning toward him. “Three of my brothers came back gravely injured. Anyone would’ve panicked seeing that.”

He wasn’t a saint. And he definitely wasn’t someone like Morton, a seasoned powerhouse who had seen it all. In a situation like that, of course he would panic.
“It’s good that everyone’s alright.”
Ivy was happy for them too, but she reminded them, “What about your temporary room? Shouldn’t you go check it out first?”
“Right.”
Regina said, “I already got the key from security earlier. It’s upstairs, Room 404.”
Timothy agreed. After greeting Cecelia and Ivy, the five of them left the apartment together.
Ryan was the last one out. But just before stepping through the door, he seemed to remember something. He turned back to look at Cecilia and said awkwardly, “Cecelia, thank you.”
