Chapter 22 A Bet
Hendrick was sly and calculating.
This move was just him tossing her a little treat to see how she’d react.
Finisher
As for Timothy’s words, they were telling her–You’re part of the team, we’ve seen your change, and we’re willing to accept you again.
In short, everyone here was sharp!
Cecelia finished eating, put down her fork, and looked at Timothy. She pretended to be serious and said. Timothy, you’re right. I only realized yesterday that I’m part of the team. I wouldn’t have survived without everyone’s help. So I’ve decided to share what I know about zombie levels with everyone!”
Both Timothy and Hendrick froze for a moment.
Cecelia? She’d be so easy to get to talk to?
“Fine. I want to see what tricks you’re going to pull!”
Ryan didn’t believe her at all.
He knew exactly what Cecelia had been doing since joining the team over a month ago.
Besides, when they were out on the road, she mostly stayed at the safe house.
There was no way she’d go out with them.
Just yesterday morning, when they were on the move and got trapped, that idiot Cecelia nearly got him killed by a zombie just to get back at him!
There was no way a cruel, foolish woman like her would know anything about zombie levels.
It was definitely something she made up while sitting around doing nothing at the safe house!
Ignoring Ryan, Cecelia looked at Timothy and the others and said, “Humans‘ abilities have levels when they awaken, so why can’t zombies? And if I’m not mistaken, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a mutated zombe like this. I saw one before, though you probably didn’t. It also had red eyes, but lighter than the one we saw today. It was faster than a normal zombie and had sharper vision and a sense of smell.”
She added a bit of explanation. “That zombie chased our car along with the regular ones, but it coulto catch up. You just didn’t notice.”
Hendrick narrowed his eyes. “Earlier at the supermarket, you were so sure that the red–eyed zombie was level 2. Based on what?”
Judging by the eye color, I guess. You’ve probably read those apocalypse novels, right? My guess is that zombies, like humans‘ abilities, have levels. And maybe, they even have something like crystal in their brains, like in those novels.
After she finished, Timothy frowned slightly, disappointed

It was all just her guess!
There was no real evidence to prove it.
And now she was dragging apocalypse novels into it.
They were living the real apocalypse now. How could any apocalypse novel have anything to do with it?
Hendrick narrowed his eyes.
From the moment Cecelia started talking, Hendrick hadn’t missed a single expression on her face.
He could tell there were signs she was lying.
But at the same time, there was some truth mixed in.
This woman never spoke half–truths like this before.
Ryan sneered at her. “Cecelia, you’re unbelievable! Apocalypse novels, crystals, zombie levels? You’re just making all this up because you’re bored!
“Next time you lie, at least make it believable! Right now, you’re just making yourself look ridiculous.”
Cecelia looked at Ryan calmly. “What if it’s true?
“Let’s make a bet. If my guess is right, then for the next month, you’ll work for me. I gave the orders, and you follow them. In front of everyone or alone, you have to call me ‘boss.‘ Deal or not?”
hot back, “And what if you’re wrong? Then you get out of the team…”
…” Ivy cut him off, frowning.
Cecelia is really changing. Maybe what she’s saying is true. And if she leaves the team, I’ll go with her. We’re sisters. No matter what, we can’t be separated.”
Her voice was firm.
Before, she had only said this to Timothy and Hendrick to show her stance.
Now, she was saying it openly.
All because of the words Ryan hadn’t finished yet.
“Ivy…”
Ryan heard Ivy’s words.
Just a moment ago, he had been all fired up, ready to make Cecelia lose the bet and kick her out of the team. But now, he swallowed the words.
Ivy wasn’t joking,

No matter how foolish he was, he knew Ivy was the most irreplaceable member of the team.
Without her, how could he fight zombies confidently?
In short, Ivy could never leave their team.
And Cecelia couldn’t be kicked out either.

Thinking this, Ryan glared at Cecelia, gritting his teeth. “Fine. I won’t kick you out! Just like you said–if you lose, you’ll work for me for a month. I give the orders. You follow them. And wherever we are, you call me ‘boss‘!”
Skip the fake friendliness.
He didn’t care about that.
“Boss” was the only title that mattered.
Cecelia would be completely under his command–his lackey!
Cecelia shrugged her shoulders, smiling up at him. “Oh, I didn’t know you liked playing the boss, too. No problem!
