Chapter 231 The Mysterious Force

Sir! Please, help me!

Her voice was urgent and pitiful.

She hurled herself at the tall man in front of her.

But just before her arms could close around his waist, he sidestepped.

A blur of motion, and then-

Sabrina didn’t even have time to react before she faceplanted into the concrete.

The tall man who’d been standing there was now several paces back, looking at her as though she were something contaminatedeyes rimmed red, every line of his body radiating wary, visceral disgust.

And beneath the disgust was something worse: a dense, bonechilling wave of killing intent.

Ssir?

Sabrina propped herself up on the pavement, looking pitiful.

Blake took another step back.

Because the distance still wasn’t enough.

His blood had begun to boilliterally. The black markings on his arms were squirming, shifting, deforming.

Sweat beaded across his forehead beneath the helmet, and his back was drenched.

He backed away several more yards.

In the end, he didn’t spare Sabrina another glance. He just ran.

He didn’t even use the streethe leaped, grabbed the secondfloor windowsill of a nearby building, and vaulted upward.

Impossibly fast.

In the time it took to blink, all Sabrina could see was his back, fleeing from her as though she were a venomous snake.

Sabrina Lowe was completely dumbfounded, her face full of disbelief.

Scared off?

Impossible.

This man was clearly powerful. There was no way he’d

Searing pain exploded through her midsection.

She whipped around. The Level 3 mutated zombie had a foot on her back and was reaching for her head.

Sabrina’s face twisted in terror. She threw every ounce of her ability into a desperate shield while screaming, Rex! Save me!

That piercing scream reached Blake’s ears again.

He found it nothing but irritating.

His blood was boiling. The killing urge, the violent impulsescompletely beyond his control.

Go save her.

A voice surged through his mind.

It forced him to stop.

Blake’s expression darkened. He ran faster, in the opposite direction.

Go save her!

The command rang out again.

Each time it surfaced, it felt like iron chains wrapping tighter around him, physically dragging him back.

The sensation was sickeningly familiar.

Blake’s face was thunderous. He ignored the heaviness flooding his limbs and the black markings searing across his skin like brands, and kept going. Kept moving forward.

He couldn’t stop.

He couldn’t lose consciousness.

If he did

Pff-

Blake coughed up a mouthful of blood.

The crimson spray hit the pavement, and every zombie in the vicinity went feral at the scent, charging toward him like feral dogs.

He had no disguise on.

Every last drop of his psychic energy was being spent fighting the force inside his head. All he could do was hack through the oncoming horde by hand.

The regular zombies weren’t a challenge individually.

But there were so many.

Within moments, they’d be enough to bury him aliveto tear him apart.

No.

He couldn’t let that happen.

Blake fought through the agony, his vision blurring, his eyes so red they looked ready to bleed.

He spotted a car. He threw himself inside.

Bang!

The door crashed shut.

Zombies clawed at the windows from every side.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

More and more piled on.

The swarm pressed in from every direction

They packed the car so tightly around the vehicle that even though it was broad daylight outside, Blake was plunged into total darkness.

Go to her side.

The voice in his head came again.

Blake didn’t move.

But his body temperature kept climbing.

He tore off his helmet. His face was white as paper, his dark hair plastered to his skull with sweat. One of his eyes was shiftingthe black iris lightening, draining of color, turning a ghastly, unnatural white.

Chaos.

Burning.

Pain.

And the relentless voice in his skull, commanding, demanding.

It felt like it was about to swallow him whole and drag him straight into hell

Bang!

Outside- a gunshot, Unmistakable.
