Chapter 257 The Bait Plan

Flished

The mutated zombies were mixed in with so many normal ones. It was almost impossible to pick them

out.

If they fired a shell straight in, the crystals would be destroyed too.

That gave Cade a serious headache.

“We can set traps.”

“Huh?”

Cade looked up. He noticed a girl in a monkey mask standing behind Timothy. He frowned in surprise. “What’s with the outfit? And what did you mean by traps?”

“Yes.”

Cecelia didn’t explain the mask. She went straight to the point. “The biggest difference between mutated zombies and normal ones is this-they can sense ability users. Compared to regular people, they’re more drawn to ability users’ flesh and blood. But this only works on Level 1 to Level 3 mutated zombies.”

“That’s a thing?”

Cade looked doubtful, his brows tightening. “So you’re saying we use dead ability users as bait?”

“Yeah.”

Cecelia nodded. She glanced toward the distant quarantine line and said in a low voice, “It’s the fastest way to gather a large group of mutated zombies in one place and wipe them out.”

Cade fell silent. He looked at Sean beside him. “What do you think?”

Sean was wiping his sniper rifle. He replied calmly, “I’m a healer and a sniper. That kind of decision isn’t really mine to make. But…”

He looked up at Cecelia, who was wearing a mask. “You’re interesting. You seem to know a lot about zombies.”

Cecelia raised a brow, calm and steady. “I’ve killed enough of them. That’s how I know.”

Her tone was firm.

Why?

Because she was a Level 4 ability user.

Sean gave a small nod and turned to Cade. “We’ve got plenty of fallen ability users. Might be worth trying. Waiting for Timothy to decide might be too late.”

“Alright!”

Cade slapped his thigh and immediately gave orders. His men rushed out to gather all the bodies of ability users and load them into a large contain

But then another problem came up.

Where should they place the bait?

“The square.

A deep male voice spoke from the crowd, slow and steady. “The bigger the square, the better. And we’ll also need a live ability user as bait to draw the Level 1 zombies out of the horde and lead them toward the square.”

A double layer of insurance.

Cade understood that much.

But he couldn’t help asking, “You guys… what’s with all the masks? Some kind of hobby?”

“We’re called the All Survive Squad!”

Draven stepped forward with a bright voice. He pulled off his mask and grinned. “Don’t worry. It won’t slow us down when it comes to killing zombies”

Cade nodded. This group was strange, no doubt. But their ideas might be exactly what they needed right

now.

They had no better option. So, they decided to try.

Preparations began immediately.

Timothy turned to Cecelia. “Are you coming with us?”

Cecelia shook her head. “We’re heading out to hunt Level 4 mutated zombies. Blake already has a rough idea of their locations. We can take them out one by one and level up the whole team as fast as possible.

That made Timothy and the others pause in surprise.

“Then we

“Blake?”

A middle-aged man’s voice came from the doorway, full of surprise. “Blake’s here? Where is he?”

“General Kinsman.”

Cade stepped forward quickly. “What brings you here?”

Even with a limp, Wesley moved fast. He pushed past Cade and asked urgently again, “Where’s Blaké?”

“Uh

Cade glanced at the ruasked group, still unsure how to answer. But before he could speak, Wesley had

already bed onto a tall man wearing a dog mask.

Wesley Worked excited.

Wake removed his mask, his expression calm. “It’s me. Long time no see.”

“It really is you?”

Wesley let out a breath of relief and patted his arm, smiling wide. “It’s good you’re here. No one knows the Eastern District better than you. You’re a psychic ability user!”

Blake gave a quiet nod.

“You mentioned crystals before,” Wesley continued, shaking his head. “You said it casually, so I didn’t think much of it. But later, my friend Morton brought back news-there really are crystals inside mutated zombies heads”

He shook his head vigoriously and said, “If we had listened to you earlier and hunted a few mutated zombies to check, we wouldn’t be in such a passive situation now.”

Blake stayed calm, his face unreadable. “It’s not too late.”

“Timothy already told us, Wesley said. “There are high-level mutated zombies in the Eastern District controlling the horde and pushing them toward us. Our forces won’t last seven days.”

He paused, his expression heavy. “We’ve already evacuated all survivors from the Western District. But Dewfrom City is too close to Sanctum. If we don’t solve the problem here, the shelter there will fall too. As the commander stationed at Sanctum, I’m asking for your help, Mr. Blake.”

Wesley’s face was full of worry.

He and Morton were the same age. But Morton still looked full of life, like a man in his twenties. Wesley, on the other hand, had a head full of white hair and looked worn out.

Worse, he hadn’t awakened any ability at all.

Cecelia noticed this and frowned slightly.

Blake glanced at her, then said to Wesley, “I’m with the All Survive Squad now. What we do next depends

on our captain”
