Chapter 259 A Risky Awakening
“Kid, come here.”

Wesley smiled at her. Even the lines at the corners of his sunburned eyes looked warm and kind. He trusted her.
Cecelia pressed her lips together. Then she placed the cleaned crystal into his cut palm.
She had done this once before when she helped Amber awaken her ability.
So this wasn’t hard for her. She quickly guided the energy from the crystal into Wesley’s body.
The feeling was strange.
Even she couldn’t fully explain it. The way she absorbed crystals was different. She relied on the small pool inside her blank space. But there was still another force inside her.
She didn’t know how this force differed from a normal ability.
All she knew was that it worked. It could guide the energy during an awakening.
A few minutes later, Wesley’s expression changed.
Just like Amber before, his face turned red. He looked like he was in pain.
Cecelia kept guiding the energy. “This reaction is actually a good sign. You have to endure it. Please hold
on.”
“Got it.”
This level of pain? It meant nothing to him. He was a veteran.
How many injuries had he taken over the years? Too many to count.
He came from special forces.
No way he’d let a young girl look down on him.
Outside the tent, Cade paced back and forth, his face full of worry.
“What kind of secret does that girl have that she can only tell General Kinsman?”
Sean glanced at him. “General Kinsman knows what he’s doing. We don’t need to worry. Just wait.
“But we’re running out of time!” Cade snapped. “We’ve already started setting up bait for the Level 1 mutated zombies. But we still need people from General Kinsman’s side to act as live bait.”
As he spoke, he turned to Timothy. “You know that girl pretty well, right?”

Timothy paused slightly. “We’ve been traveling together. Cecelia is smart. She always has her reasons. If she wants to talk to Wesley alone, then it must be something important.”
As for what it was-he didn’t know.
But one thing was certain.
Cecelia would never harm Wesley.
“Ugh…” Cade sighed again and kept pacing. At this rate, he felt like he’d lose weight just from walking. He had worked hard to put that weight on!
About ten minutes later, Cade finally lost his patience.
He was about to go into the tent when he suddenly heard loud laughter from inside.
“General Kinsman?”
He frowned, confused.
Sean said, “Sounds like the girl told him something that put him in a good mood. It’s probably related to solving the zombie problem in the Eastern District.”
“If that’s true, that’d be great.” Cade quickly shouted toward the tent, “General Kinsman!”
Wesley’s strong voice came right back. “Cade! Go get your captain here. I’ve got something important to say!”
Cade hadn’t even gone in yet and was already being sent away. He answered right away. “Got it. I’m on it.”
But this exchange left Ivy and the others stunned.
“Blake, do you know General Kinsman? Did Cecelia say something that made him upset?”
Ivy couldn’t help worrying. Her heart felt tight.
She knew Cecelia was strong and wouldn’t get bullied.
But what if something happened to Wesley because of her?
He wasn’t just anyone. That man was a high-ranking military leader.
“General Kinsman is easygoing. He rewards and punishes fairly. He listens to others’ opinions. He won’t make things hard for Cecelia,” Blake said calmly.
He had only met Wesley once, over a month ago. That was before he became Jerome and joined Jayson’s team. Back then, their groups had crossed paths.
As for the zombie crystals, Blake had only mentioned it casually.
After all, the apocalypse had just begun. Mutated zombies were clearly different from normal ones. And ability users weren’t strong enough to fight even Level 1 mutated zombies yet.
