Chapter 270 The Hunt Begin
Split up.
Finished
After sending the message, the tall zombie shot off to the right. It moved incredibly fast. Frost spread across the ground beneath it, leaving a trail of ice.
The wood-ability zombie hesitated for a moment, then turned and chased in the opposite direction.
After more than an hour of pursuit, it finally spotted the military SUV Cecelia’s group had used. It was parked not far away.
This area was an abandoned scrapyard.
Old cars were piled everywhere, stacked in layers. The place was also filled with burned zombie bodies. The military from the Western District had been clearing zombies and bringing the corpses here to burn.
Some hadn’t burned completely.
The smell was awful.
Mutated zombies could smell.
Its shriveled nose twitched. Its pale purple eyes scanned the area, searching for Cecelia’s scent.
Her scent was the strongest.
Found you.
The Level 5 wood-ability zombie stopped searching. Its eyes locked onto a cluster of wrecked cars.
She was hiding there.
The moment it was sure-Whoosh!
It rushed forward.
But right then-boom!
Several abandoned cars slammed down on it at the same time.
“Got it!”
Amber, hiding nearby, broke into a quick smile. But she didn’t relax. She immediately controlled more wrecked cars, bending the metal and stacking them down again, layer after layer.
Earlier, this zombie had trapped Cecelia like that.
Now Amber was doing the same thing back to it.
And it worked.

Fimehed
From behind another wreck, Cecelia saw everything clearly. Amber’s control over metal was impressive. Even through the rearview mirror, she could see the zombie, about 30-40 feet away, crushed hard and fast like it was caught in a press.
The zombie didn’t break free right away.
But the ground started moving.
Cecelia’s face changed instantly.
Roots burst out from the ground beneath her feet and whipped toward her!
Bang!
Bang! Bang!
More and more roots shot out across the scrapyard, thrashing wildly. They flipped over wrecked cars. Some even started tearing apart the pile of metal trapping the zombie.
“What’s going on?!”
Amber’s face turned pale. She pushed harder, trying to pile even more cars onto the Level 5 zombie. She wanted to bury it completely.
But she wasn’t strong enough.
And while she focused on controlling the metal, she didn’t notice a sharp root rising behind her, aiming straight for the back of her head.
The next second, the root shot forward.
Crack!
Something snapped behind her.
Amber spun around. Blake was standing behind her, gripping the root above her head. Its sharp tip had already been cut off.
“Thanks, Blake.”
“Focus.”
“Okay!”
Amber took a deep breath. She pulled out a crystal to restore her ability, then kept reinforcing the metal sphere trapping the zombie.
At the same time, Cecelia dashed to the side.
She had realized this zombie was targeting her.
All the roots coming out of the ground, no matter where they started, were rushing toward her.

A few roots turned into dozens, then merged into a giant hand reaching for her.
Luckily, Cecelia was fast.
And the scrapyard gave her plenty of places to dodge.
But the zombie was losing patience.
After missing her again and again, it got angry.
Finished
The huge wooden hand stopped chasing Cecelia. Instead, it split apart and attacked Amber and the others in different directions.
Boom!
“Seriously?!”
Draven, carrying Ivy on his back, dashed out fast. He looked at the overturned cars and the wild, twisting branches, completely speechless.
He had just leveled up his ability. He hadn’t even had time to get used to it yet.
And now he was already back to running for his life.
Still, the difference was obvious.
Even with Ivy on his back, he was much faster than before. More agile too. And he could even fly.
That’s right.
