Chapter 276 A Pain That Can’t Be Avoided
Matthew nodded. “Alright.”
The two of them left.
Ryan had no choice but to turn to Timothy. “Timothy…”
“Back to your room.”
“Fine.”
What else could he do?
It wasn’t like he could shamelessly knock on their door and ask for food.
In fact, Hendrick was let inside.
That was because Ivy happened to be the one who opened the door. When she heard he had something important to discuss with Cecelia, she let him in first.
As soon as he stepped into the yard, Hendrick saw a huge grill set up outside. Two massive chickens were roasting over the fire.
Draven stood there shirtless, covered in sweat, flipping them over.
Amber sprinkled seasoning on top.
Oliver, Blake, and Cecelia were nowhere in sight.
Hendrick glanced around, then lowered his gaze and asked Ivy, “Cecelia and the others went out?”
“They’re upstairs. They won’t be down anytime soon,” Ivy said. “Hendrick, maybe you should come back later?”
“It’s fine. I’ll wait.”
He grabbed a small stool and sat down in the yard.
Ivy didn’t say anything else.
Because suddenly, a painful scream came from upstairs-Oliver’s voice.
Ivy’s heart dropped. She rushed upstairs right away.
Hendrick frowned and stood up, staring toward the staircase, but he didn’t move.
Upstairs, when Ivy arrived, the door was already open

At a glance, she saw Oliver inside, rolling on the floor, clutching his head in agony.
He was so big that even the largest room couldn’t contain him as he thrashed,
His whole body was soaked in sweat. His clothes were drenched,
And worst of all, blood was leaking from his eyes like tears.
Ivy’s heart jumped in fear. She grabbed Cecelia’s hand. “Cecelia, is it not working?”
Blake stood beside Oliver, completely still.
Only Cecelia could see it-countless psychic threads pouring out from Blake, stabbing into Oliver’s head like a dense web.
To put it simply, Blake was using his psychic power to repair the damage left by Oliver’s earlier psychic injury
“It’s fine,” Cecelia said calmly. “This process is going to hurt. There’s no way around it.”
She looked at Ivy. “But you came at the right time. In a bit, you can help ease the pain in his head.”
Ivy paused. “But didn’t you say I’d need to reach Level 5 or 6 first?”
“That was before. Now we have Blake” Cecelia explained, “His psychic power still hurts Oliver a little, but it’s much lighter than what Harvey did. Think of it like a surface wound.”
“I see” Ivy nodded, understanding now. She let out a small breath and looked at Oliver with sympathy.
“I’ll heal him in a bit. This is too much. I just wonder, when he fully recovers and learns the truth about you, Cecelia, how will he react?”
She understood how he felt.
After all, they both cared about Cecelia.
She could only hope that once he recovered, he’d be able to move past the pain of losing the real Cecelia as soon as possible.
Five minutes later. Blake slowly pulled back all the psychic threads from Oliver’s head.
But the pain on Oliver’s face disn’t fade.
Ivy stepped forward and used her healing ability.
Gradually, the blood tears at the
corners of his eyes stopped.

toward the door and looked at Blake.
“Thanks. You should go rest.
Blake glanced at Oliver, then walked out to follow Cecelia and closed the door behind him. “His psychic injury can be repaired,” Blake said quietly, “but mental trauma isn’t that easy. By fixing him, you might lose a strong teammate. Are you okay with that?”
“When I first met Oliver,” Cecelia said, “he followed me because he thought I was his sister who had already died.” She paused. “These days, we’ve all treated him as part of the team. But I think what matters more is respecting his choice. Not taking advantage of him when he’s at his lowest.”
She admitted to herself that she did feel some sympathy for him. And yes, there had been a bit of selfishness in taking him in.
In the apocalypse, people with situation like Oliver weren’t rare.
She couldn’t save everyone and turn them into teammates.
She accepted him partly because he was strong.
Right now, her team needed people like that-even if he hadn’t fully chosen to stay on his own.
But that didn’t mean ignoring the fact that Oliver was his own person. He wasn’t a tool.
“Even if recovering his memory hurts him,” Cecelia said softly, “I still want him to live as himself.”
Blake fell silent.
Here, Oliver still had the right to be a person.
But somewhere else, people might prefer him to stay broken forever, obedient like a puppet
“Though..” Cecelia suddenly added, rubbing her chin as she looked at Blake, “If the memories are too painful, and he asks to forget them, can you do that?”
Blake paused. “You think… he wouldn’t want to remember?”
