Chapter 326 Psychic Thread
“Exactly!”
Glen picked it up. “A few years back, we took on a job about illegal experiments, Captain Carter led us in. and we found a lab inside an abandoned chemical plant. They were using cats and dogs, swapping their heads to see if they could survive. The guy we arrested was a complete mad scientist. He kept shouting he was conducting head transplant experiments that would benefit the world, even claiming he’d alread tested it on humans and succeeded.
“When we heard that, we were freaked out and immediately demanded to see the successful case. He smugly took us to it. Turned out, in the basement of his house, we found the bodies of his wife and eight year-old son. Their heads had been swapped and placed neatly on a bed. They were long dead, already decomposing. And that lunatic still insisted the experiment worked, said they were just sleeping…
That’s horrifying…”
Amber’s scalp prickled as she grabbed Ivy’s arm tighter.
Cecelia raised an eyebrow at her. “That scares you? Haven’t you seen Human Centipede?”
Okay, Cecelia, maybe we should not talk about that.”
Ivy quickly cut her off. If this kept going, she might actually run.
“Back when I watched movies and shows, all those bizarre things, those twisted experiments by crazy scientists, I saw plenty of them. But it always felt distant. Even the apocalypse… But now, the apocalypse is here. Zombies are real. So if more weird stuff shows up, it’s not that strange anymore.”
Draven scratched his head and chuckled. “Guess I overreacted earlier. Thought that thing was a mutated
rat.”
“Mutated rats are as big as full-grown stray dogs. We’ve seen them.”
Amber said, “Sharp, long teeth, eyes so red that they look like they’re bleeding, and they’re afraid of fire.
“The crystal’s about the size of a quail egg. Not that impressive.”
Once the topic shifted, the atmosphere eased a little.
But honestly, in a sewer like this, it was hard not to let your mind wander into something dark and terrifying.

Draven and Amber both stayed on edge, constantly sweeping their lights across the sides and above, watching for any movement.
Suddenly, Blake, who was leading at the front, stopped in his tracks.
Cecelia lowered her voice. “What is it?”
“At first, I wasn’t sure, but now I can confirm. Inside Kaezer Group, there are at least two level 5 psychic mutated zombies.”

ofer 326 Psychic Thread
“Really?”
She frowned. “You sensed something?”
Yeah. A few more steps forward, and we’ll enter the inner zone. I can feel probing psychic threads..
He pointed his flashlight straight ahead, signaling Cecelia. “Look up.”
Cecelia followed his beam and saw faint strands above them, similar to the psychic threads Blake used b these were pitch black and thin like spider silk. If you didn’t have sharp eyesight or a psychic/ability user with you, you’d never notice them.
Her brows tightened. “So once we enter that range, it’ll detect us easily?”
As long as we don’t touch them.”
Blake said in a low voice, “Morton’s team is drawing attention outside. Most of the mutated zombies should be focused there. These psychic threads are present, but weak. As long as we avoid contact, we can still slip past.
“I can see them, so I’m fine. But the others…”
Cecelia turned to look at the rest, including Ivy, her expression sinking. “They can’t see this at all…”
Warn them.”
Blake didn’t move forward.
The others behind Cecelia also stopped.
Cade asked, “What’s going on?”
“Step any further, and we enter Kaezer Group’s range. There are psychic threads released by mutated zombies inside. If we touch them, we’ll be detected,” Cecelia spoke seriously, about to describe what lay ahead.
Blake had already sketched it out and handed it to her. “Like this.”
Cecelia glanced at the drawing, surprised. In just a few moments, he had mapped out the entire scene ahead.
Even the details were there.
The sewer ceiling was about ten feet high, and those psychic threads hung densely like a web. Though they didn’t move, they drooped down to about six and a half feet.
Anyone taller than that would have to hunch forward to pass through.
The one they need to worry about most right now was Oliver.
He stood over seven feet tall.
Cade, Ivy, Timothy, and the others all frowned when they saw it.
