Chapter 40 The Crystals Are Divided
A moment later, the exhaustion from the fight faded away.
“Cece?”
Ivy’s voice sounded beside her.
Cecelia quickly pulled her hand back and returned to reality. When she opened her eyes, Ivy was standing right in front of her.
Ivy’s face looked pale. It was clear she had used up most of her ability.
“Ivy, maybe you should…”
Cecelia glanced at Ivy’s backpack.
Ivy shook her head. “I’m fine. I’ll recover soon. No need to waste it.”
Earlier, she had used one crystal to refill her ability twice. Each time it filled her energy completely. That was how she managed to save Timothy.
Ryan had broken ribs. His injuries were serious. But after Ivy treated him, he was already back on his feet.
Now he was hopping around again, searching for water and food.
Cecelia looked at Ivy with concern.
“Ivy, your ability is the most important in this team. If you hadn’t been there earlier, Timothy might have…”
He might have died.
He had lost a lot of blood. The smell alone could attract zombies from far away.
That was probably why so many zombies came running. It wasn’t just the noise of the fight.
Luckily, they had survived the danger this time.
“Cece, we should wait for Timothy to decide,” Ivy said.
She glanced toward the small roadside store. “Hendrick finished clearing the zombies. Let’s go over there, rest a bit, and get something to eat.”
Not far away, Timothy was waving his hand, signaling for everyone to gather.
Cecelia frowned slightly but said nothing more. She followed Ivy toward the store.
Soon, the seven of them gathered again.
Ryan rubbed the back of his neck and glanced at Cecelia with a complicated look.

It was true she had dragged him away earlier and bought enough time for Hendrick to rescue him. He was thinking about thanking her.
But honestly, he didn’t want to owe her a favor.
Matthew and Regina prepared meals for everyone.
The group ate quietly.
After the meal. Timothy turned to Hendrick. “What happened when you entered the town earlier?”
Hendrick took out two crystals and placed them on the table.
‘One level–one zombie crystal. One level–two zombie crystal.
We killed three level–one zombies and one level–two zombie. But I used two level–one crystals to refill my ability.”
Timothy nodded and took out two more level–one crystals. “These are from the four of us.”
And Cece and me!” Ivy added quickly.
She pressed her lips together and said, “Cece killed a level–one zombie while Hendrick was fighting nother one. I used that crystal earlier to refill my ability so I could heal everyone.”
Timothy looked at Cecelia in surprise.
Cecelia took another bite of food and shrugged. “Just luck.” Then she kept eating.
Timothy fell silent.
Hendrick glanced at Cecelia.
After watching everything she did today, he knew the truth.
t wasn’t luck. She was hiding her real strength.
But no matter what, she had helped the team a lot.
What a shame…” Matthew sighed. “We didn’t get the crystal from the level–two zombie Hendrick killed carlier. Otherwise, we’d have two level–two crystals. Timothy and Ivy could both upgrade to level three
Today’s fight made something very clear.
Upgrading abilities was extremely important.
And some people’s abilities were more important to the team than others.
Timothy frowned slightly. “Yes, that really is a pity”
“Hmm..” Cecelia slowly raised her hand.
“When I was running earlier, I picked up the level–two zombie’s head. It’s under the back seat of the truck.

Everyone froze. All eyes turned toward her.
Ryan’s eyes went wide. You had time to carry a zombie’s head, but not enough time to grab my arm instead of dragging me by the collar**
Cecelia gave him a cold look. You’re too heavy. A head is easier to carry. If you were just a head, I could’ve comment you easily
Dang in
Ryan nearly exploded. The tiny bit of gratitude he had felt vanished instantly. “You’re unbelievable!”
Cecelia more him and spread her hands. “Anyway, I brought the head back. She didn’t care what Ryan aut. She only helped him because the team couldn’t lose a fighter.
MI check the truck. Matthew said as he stood up.
Se vaguely remembered Cecelia carrying something when she got into the vehicle. But he hadn’t seen
er the time he was too exhausted just trying to drive.
Eendrick narrowed his eyes and looked at Cecelia with a faint smile. “Smart move.”
Cecelia laughed lightly. “Can’t help it level–two zombies are hard to kill. Everyone was injured. If we left he crystal behind, that would’ve been a huge loss.”
Cece is really thoughtful, Ivy said sincerely.
Her sister was getting more amazing every day.
Efew minutes later. Matthew returned.
He was indeed holding the zombie’s head.
Kendrick quickly dug the crystal out of the skull and placed it with the others.
Sow they had two level–two zombie crystals and three level–one crystals.
Timothy looked around at everyone.
Alt of these crystals came from the team’s effort. But after today’s battle, we all know what the team needs most He gainedd “So the two level–two crystals will be used like this. One for me. One for Ivy We’ll operate our abilities firu. Next time we find more level–two crystals, they will go to Regina, Ryan, and Mathew. As for the three level–one crystals, we’ll keep them as emergency energy refills.” He looked arounds the group again. Does anyone have a problem with this arrangement?
