Ryan came back miserably. His hair was full of dirt, and his face was blackened with soot from the fire he had started earlier. He looked furious.
Half an hour had passed, but the two of them hadn’t caught a single rabbit.
Matthew sighed. “My ability is almost drained. The closest I got was brushing that fat rabbit’s butt.”
Wild rabbits, it turned out, were much harder to catch than they looked.
Thinking about it now, he had to admit something. Cecelia was pretty impressive.
Ryan snorted. “Hmph. That lazy bum just got lucky!”
He brushed the dirt off his head and splashed some water on his face. Even now, he refused to admit defeat.
Cecelia shot him a cool glance. “Sore loser, why don’t you try harder? Catch one yourself and bring it back for everyone. As for the rabbit I caught with ‘luck,‘ it probably tastes terrible. You shouldn’t eat it.”
As she spoke, she tore off a small piece of rabbit leg and started chewing.
The smell was incredible; everyone was craving it.
Ryan’s eyes lit up. “Why shouldn’t I eat it? I almost got killed today because of you! Even if you caught it by uck, this rabbit counts as compensation!”
He rushed over, grabbed another rabbit leg, and started eating without hesitation.
His expression was quite telling. I deserve this. I’ll eat it. What can you do about this? He even looked at Cecelia with a smug grin.
Cecelia rolled her eyes. “Childish.”
She opened an instant meal and placed two more pieces of roasted rabbit on her plate.
To be fair, Timothy was a good cook.
The rabbit tasted far better than anything she could make.
‘Wow! This is amazing!” Ryan said after finishing his piece. He even licked his fingers. Then he looked at Timothy eagerly. “Make a few more tomorrow!”
Timothy raised an eyebrow and glanced at him. “If you can catch them, I’ll cook them.”
“Deal! Tomorrow Hendrick can come with me to catch rabbits!”
Ryan was clearly hooked on the roasted rabbit. He turned to Hendrick with excitement.
“Hendrick, your wind ability is super fast. You’ll grab one in a second! I’ll flush them out, and you catch
them!”

Hendrick slowly cracked open the rabbit head he was eating and gave Ryan a cool look. “I upgraded my ability just to catch rabbits for you?”
Ryan scratched the back of his head and laughed awkwardly. “Hey, I’m just trying to improve everyone’s meals. Otherwise Timothy’s cooking talent is going to waste.”
Hendrick finished the rabbit head and wiped his hands. “We’ll talk about it tomorrow.”
Ryan fell silent.
Fine. I would ask again tomorrow.
No matter what, he had to catch a rabbit and prove that lazy bum wrong.
Everyone was still eating when something caught their attention.
Not far away, Brian and his group opened their car doors and got out. Then they began walking toward them.
Ivy frowned slightly and leaned toward Cecelia. “Didn’t Timothy already reject them? Why are they still following us?”
Cecelia glanced at Zera, who was hiding behind Brian. A cold smile appeared on her lips. “Ivy, some people are born with thick skin. And they’re very good at scheming, especially when it comes to manipulating men.”
‘You mean Zera?” Ivy asked quietly.
She still remembered Cecelia warning her earlier to stay away from that woman.
‘Yeah.”
Cecelia’s eyes turned cold as she watched Zera approach.
Hendrick leaned against the front of the vehicle while eating. From where he stood, he had clearly seen the look on Cecelia’s face when she noticed Brian’s group.
It was obvious. Cecelia truly disliked that woman named Zera.
“Hmm…” Brian had already walked up to them.
His eyes were fixed on the roasted rabbit meat and self–heating meals on the small table. He couldn’t help swallowing.
Timothy watched him calmly. “I already made things clear earlier, didn’t I?”
“I know.”
Brian stiffened under Timothy’s sharp gaze and stopped about six feet away. He swallowed nervously before speaking. “My girlfriend, my sister, and I–we don’t ask for much. We just want to follow your group. We won’t bother you. If there’s anything you need help with, we can do it. We just hope you could spare us a little food.”

His eyes never left the plate of roasted rabbit. Almost half of it was left on the table.
Zera quickly stepped forward and spoke in a soft, gentle voice. “Everyone, times are hard during the apocalypse. We’re not asking for much help. We only ask for a little food and the opportunity to travel with you. When we reach the next place with supplies, we’ll repay you right away.”
Her voice was gentle and sweet.
She looked harmless and fragile.
Most men would probably soften hearing her speak.
But Timothy only glanced at her briefly before turning back to Brian. “Can you kill zombies?”
Brian nodded quickly. “Yes!”
“How many had you killed?”
“Five … maybe six. I’m not sure.”
“Oh.”
Timothy then looked at Zera and Amber. “What about them? Have they killed any zombies?”
“No,” Brian answered quickly.
He pulled Zera closer and explained, “Zera is timid. I’ve been protecting her the whole way. My sister too
“Tsk. The apocalypse has been going on for over a month,” Hendrick said with a faint smile as he looked the three of them over. “The fact that one person managed to keep two others alive–that’s actually impressive.”
“Timothy!” Cecelia suddenly called out.
Timothy turned to her. “What is it?”
