Villainess Ascendant: Apocalypse Edition
Chapter 70 Sudden Danger
For example, zombies killing each other.
Finished
In her previous life, the researchers at the largest base, Hope Base, had done extensive studies on zombies.
They discovered that mutated zombies could evolve by consuming the crystals of other zombies or by feeding on the flesh and blood of ability users.
Back then, they speculated that the highest–level 8 and level 9 zombies probably evolved this way as well.
But there were too few research cases to confirm it.
And the only person who truly understood level 8 or 9 zombies–the so–called Dark Lord, Ericko Lincoln -was impossible to track down.
So even by the time Cecelia died, the research was still incomplete.
“Then let’s keep searching around here.”
After putting the crystal away, Hendrick walked outside.
Cecelia hummed in response and scanned the room.
When she noticed the open window in the bedroom, her eyes narrowed slightly, and a mocking smile curved across her lips.
Meanwhile, inside the safe house.
Ivy waited anxiously in the room with Matthew, Regina, and Ryan for Timothy and the others to return.
Suddenly, a strange noise came from downstairs.
Regina’s expression changed instantly. She lowered her voice and looked at everyone. “It’s a level 1 zombie! And there’s more than one! They’re heading toward us–at least three of them!”
“That many?”
Ryan’s face went pale.
He quickly ran to the balcony, planning to shout to Hendrick and the others in the nearby house.
But what he saw was a five or six–year–old level 1 zombie climbing up the drainpipe toward their floor!
“Shit!”
Ryan couldn’t stop the curse. Flames instantly appeared in his palm as he tried to burn the pipe.
But his firepower was too weak.

The pipe melted far more slowly than the zombie climbed.
He hurriedly called Matthew for help.

Matthew ran over, took one look, and immediately pulled out a pistol. The bullet struck the zombie right in the forehead
Bang!
The gunshot exploded.
The little zombie fell from the pipe and lay motionless.
Ryan had just let out a sigh of relief when the door behind them was kicked violently.
Ivy and Regina immediately got up and hid behind Matthew and Ryan.
Regina’s face turned pale. “There are two level 1 zombies outside the door!”
Matthew shielded them behind him and grabbed the submachine gun beside him. He aimed at the door and pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bullets sprayed through the door.
Dozens of holes appeared in the wood.
Through the gaps, two bodies could vaguely be seen collapsed outside.
But the next second, the door took another heavy hit.
Regina pressed her back against the wall, her lips trembling. “Three … no, four! There are four more level zombies outside! And a level 2 zombie is approaching!”
“Damn it! When nothing shows up, not a single one comes. But when they do, it’s a whole swarm?!”
Ryan was on the verge of losing it.
His ability was practically useless. He grabbed a gun and aimed it toward the door just like Matthew.
But when he turned his head, he saw a level 1 zombie crouching on the balcony railing..
It looked like an 11 or 12–year–old boy.
His mouth was covered in blood. His scarlet eyes stared straight at Ryan.
“Chhh-”
“Shit!”
Ryan’s scalp went numb. A chill shot straight from his feet to the top of his head.
Before he could even raise his gun, the level 1 zombie lunged at him.
Chapter 79 Sudden Danger
wy panicked.
Marchew was stuck guarding at the doorway, unable to move away.
Regina’s face turned grim. She grabbed a table lamp nearty and hurled it at the little zombie.

The lamp smashed into its head,
The zombie’s attack veered off, and it crashed into the dressing table beside them.
Ryan narrowly escaped. He rushed over to Matthew and grabbed another gun.
But the blow had angered the little zombie.
It bared its teeth and snarled at the four of them.
At the same time, another level 1 zombie appeared on the balcony.
This time, it was an adult woman, but her appearance was horrifying.
Half her skull was missing, and her exposed brain was crawling with wriggling maggots.
A terrible stench filled the air. One eyeball even hung loosely outside its socket.
She seemed to rely only on her nose to move.
After sniffing the scent in the air, she slowly and eerily turned her face toward Ryan and the others.
“Ugh.”
Regina threw up immediately,
Her psychic ability wasn’t completely drained.
But scanning such a large area carlier and tracking the approaching zombies had already exhausted her.
