Chapter 78 Listen to Him
Within a 0.5–mile radius, Regina could detect mutated zombies.
And it wasn’t affected by day or night.
However, even though her psychic ability had leveled up, she couldn’t use it constantly.
Using it consumed ability energy.
When possible, they still relied on electronic devices.
Cecelia leaned against the back seat and fell asleep, entering her blank space again.

But this time she noticed something. The weeds growing along the edge of the pool hadn’t continued to grow. They seemed fixed at that size and range.
She squatted down and gently tugged at the weeds. “Don’t tell me you only grow after absorbing crystals?”
The weeds didn’t answer her.
They also weren’t very sturdy. Two strands snapped right off.
Cecelia’s hand froze awkwardly in midair. She quietly buried the broken weeds back into the soil.
Well, that counts as another form of recycling!
Then she stood up and began exercising.
The repeated training didn’t make her feel bored.
Because every time she used up the fluid in the pool, she could feel her body growing stronger.
For example, after completely draining the pool for the first time, she clearly felt strong enough to kill a level 2 mutated zombie on her own.
After the second time she drained it, she still couldn’t kill a level 3 zombie outright, but she could at least fight one to a draw.
Like the level 3 zombie from earlier that had just evolved, she felt confident she could now kill it by herself.
It was a strange feeling.
Unlike Ivy and the others‘ abilities, which had clear level divisions, her strength after training seemed to match the zombies‘ level instead.
It was a simple and brutal form of physical power.
Even in her previous life, Cecelia had never heard of anyone with an ability like hers.
So she could only keep studying it slowly.

However, two hours after their vehicles left the town, Brandon’s convoy arrived.
A group of people stepped off a bus.
Almost everyone had injuries of varying severity, including Brandon himself.
His face looked dark and cold as he narrowed his eyes at the house in front of him and said to everyone, “Prepare to stop and rest. We leave again at dawn!”
Clay walked up to him and asked, confused, “Brandon, where exactly are we going? Why do we have to go to Briar City? Wouldn’t it be better to just build a base somewhere?”
“There’s already a base in Briar City. That place will be where the apocalypse ends in the future. Why else would we go?”
Brandon glanced at them coldly. “If you want to keep living in this apocalypse, you’d better listen to me. Do exactly what I tell you. Otherwise, forget Briar City–you won’t even make it out of this city alive!”
His words stunned everyone into silence.
A blond–haired punk suddenly jumped out and said loudly, “Exactly! If it weren’t for Brandon, you’d all be dead by now!”
“That’s right! We have to listen to Brandon! We’re going to Briar City. I want to reach the base–I want to survive!”
Another young man in the group stood up and told everyone, “Right now, the only way we survive is by staying united. Don’t question Brandon’s decisions! He’s the backbone of this team! Without him, we wouldn’t even be able to find supplies!”
“Yeah, we should just follow Brandon’s plan. My family is in Briar City anyway. I’m going there no matter what.”
Others quickly echoed their agreement.
Clay’s expression changed. He still wanted to say something, but Brandon shot him a cold glance. “If you want to leave, I won’t stop you, but you can’t take a single thing from the team with you!”
Clay stiffened and quickly said, “You misunderstood, Brandon. I was just asking. I wasn’t planning to leave
the team.”
If he left the group, surviving would be extremely difficult.
“Good. Then from now on, do whatever I say. Don’t ask questions. I have my reasons for my arrangements!”
Brandon then gave him another order. “Clay, take a few people and clear out the zombies.”
“Yes…”

Clay had no choice but to accept the order and take people to clean up the area.

But not long after, he came running back to Brandon, panting. “Brandon, there aren’t any zombies nearby. Looks like someone came before us and already cleared the place out!”
“What?”
Brandon’s expression changed. A sudden thought struck him.
Could it be Timothy’s team? But that doesn’t seem right.
They shouldn’t have stayed here.
He suddenly thought of something and quickly went to check the dead zombies. Sure enough, he immediately noticed something strange.
Every zombie’s head had been dug open–they were mutated zombies!
The person who took the crystals was an ability user!
But in his previous life, no one even knew about the existence of crystals in this period!
He instantly thought about the batch of guns that had been stolen back in Northbank.
Rage flared in his chest.
Someone from his side must have been reborn as well.
Otherwise, no one would know about the crystals. Even now, he hadn’t told anyone on his team about them.
Back in Northbank, they had killed a mutated zombie before, but he had secretly dug out the crystal and used it himself.
No one knew about it.
“Brandon?”
Seeing Brandon’s expression change again and again, Clay thought something had happened and asked quickly, “Should we catch up with the team that left earlier?”
“No!”
Brandon immediately dismissed the idea.
If the other party could kill that many mutated zombies, they were clearly not an easy group to deal with.
