“Amber!”

Zera looked at Amber in disbelief, her face full of grievance. “Other people might not understand me, but you should! How could I do that on purpose? I was just scared and lost my balance…”
“Really?”
Right now, Amber’s mind was filled with the image of her brother right before he died.
He refused to let Zera go.
At first, she thought it was because her brother loved Zera so much that he worried about Zera’s future. even in death.
But now, it seemed different. That wasn’t love. It was a furious accusation!
From last night until now, she had already been suspicious about her brother’s death. The more she thought about it, the stranger it seemed.
Just like Cecelia said, the window in that room had been opened.
Amber had been sleeping in the room next door. She knew the windows in that house could only be opened from the inside. None of them had been broken by the little zombie.
Combined with Zera’s repeated attempts to seduce men, it became clear.
Her brother’s death definitely had something to do with Zera!
But Zera would never admit it.
Amber’s eyes flickered slightly as she lowered her voice. “My brother really liked you.”
“Amber…”
“Even in death, he still wanted you to live well. I just hope you don’t disappoint him.”
After saying that, Amber forced herself to suppress her disgust, pushed past her, and walked toward the safe house.
Zera stood frozen where she was.
A cold wind blew by.
Not far away, the growls of zombies echoed again, making goosebumps rise all over her body.
Her expression shifted repeatedly as she bit her lip and quickly followed Amber.
It seemed that her plan couldn’t continue.
The people in Timothy’s team were completely impossible to manipulate.

Playing weak simply didn’t work on them.
Did she really have to grab a kitchen knife and hack at a few zombies before they would acknowledge her?
And that nonsense Cecelia said about being able to see ghosts?
She didn’t believe it.

Cecelia had to be lying. If she really had evidence that Zera killed Brian, why not show it directly?
The more Zera thought about it, the more relieved she felt that she had stayed firm earlier.
Otherwise, she might have slipped up.
And then there was Amber.
It looked like she hadn’t fully believed Cecelia’s words yet. Zera thought maybe she could still make use of her a little.
Inside the small motel that served as their safe house.
Ivy pulled Cecelia aside and asked in confusion, “Cece, what exactly are you trying to do? That ghost- seeing ability… Timothy and the others won’t believe that.”
“Yeah. I didn’t expect them to.”
“Then what you said about Brian…”
“It’s true. But I don’t have proof. I was just trying to bluff Zera and see if she’d panic,” Cecelia said it casually.
Ivy looked helpless. “But didn’t we hear before that Zera might’ve been forced by Brian? If she really killed him on purpose, there must’ve been hatred behind it, right?”
Cecelia paused and looked at her sister with a sigh. “Regardless of what happened between her and Brian, Zera has already set her sights on Timothy, Matthew, and even you and Regina.
“She wants to stay with our team.”
Ivy frowned and looked at Cecelia. “It’s the apocalypse. It’s extremely hard for a girl to survive alone. She can’t kill zombies, so she has to use little tricks to stay with a team that can protect her. Cece, I don’t actually think Zera’s behavior is wrong.
“She just wants to survive.”
Cecelia froze slightly and fell silent.
Looking at Ivy, she felt complicated.
In my previous life, you just wanted to survive, too.

You don’t remember how they killed you, but I do!
I’ll never forget the despair and pain on your face when you died!
Keeping Zera alive will only make us repeat the same tragedy!
Those were the words Cecelia wanted to say to Ivy.
But when they reached her lips, she couldn’t say them. That familiar restraint appeared again.
Cecelia could only stand there stiffly, listening as Ivy continued, “Zera isn’t wrong, and our team isn’t wrong for refusing to accept someone like her either. The most we can do is see if another survivor team might be willing to take Zera and Amber in. That’s the best we can manage. After that, what happens will depend on their own luck.
“Cece?”
“I understand, Ivy.”
