Chapter 8
Grayson’s POV
“You have no idea what Riley Monroe looks like now.”
Her cheerful tone made my knuckles go stark white.
“We should totally host a high school reunion and let all those people who used to look down on her
see what a freak she’s become.”
The room froze. She kept laughing. “You’re just feeling guilty, big brother. Give it some time and you’ll forget. And besides, I didn’t force you to switch the exam results back then.”
My breath stopped. My chest tightened painfully.
“Yeah, those explicit photos were edited by me.”
Her voice grew more smug with every word.
“She always acted so high and mighty. How was I supposed to swallow that? But honestly, I didn’t
expect you to believe me without even checking the facts.”
My throat closed up. Inside me, my wolf slammed against my ribs, rage slicing up my spine like a
blade.
I shoved the door open. “It was all you!”
The glass of warm milk shattered against the floor.
“Briar Monroe! How dare you?!”
My Alpha rage rose so sharply the air itself seemed to compress.
She flinched, but my hand cracked across her face before she could react, sending her sprawling to
the floor.
“She is my sister!” My wolf roared inside my skull, ears ringing. “I treated you well. Why did you
hurt her?!”
Briar clutched her cheek, fingernails scraping the floor. Her eyes suddenly turned bloodshot.
“Did I force you?”

She stood slowly, like a snake finally baring its fangs. She glanced at the stiffness in my expression
and sneered.
Feeling righteous now? Feeling guilty? So you want to dump everything on me?”
My heart sank. My wolf went rigid. Briar laughed, high-pitched and manic.
“Grayson, stop pretending. You brought me home. You believed me without asking a single
question.”
Air drained from my lungs. She kept going.
“You gave me her room, her friends, her acceptance letter. And in that car crash, you chose to save
me first, turning her face into that monster’s mask.”
She screamed the last sentence.
“Everything was your fault!!”
My wolf let out a low, torn, agonizing growl, not for her. But for my sister.
“Shut up!”
The second slap snapped her head to the side. Blood trickled from her lip. She licked it, eyes glinting
with vicious amusement.
“You think I ever saw you as my brother? Don’t kid yourself. You were just my ticket into the upper
ranks.”
I snapped. I sent my foot into her side, kicking her so hard she slammed into the door, the wood
behind her splintering.
My wolf thrashed, a bloody mess tearing through my control.
I saw the photos. The rumors. The day I beat Riley with that damn whip, her crying, begging me to
believe her, her face bursting into flames in that car…
I grabbed Briar and dragged her down the stairs, throwing her onto the cold floor of the hall.
I opened the cabinet and took out the same whip I once used on Riley.
My hand shook. Not out of hesitation, but from the terror of realizing I had driven my sister to hell
with my own hands.

“Filthy bitch.”
The whip cracked through the air. Once. Twice. Ten times… Until blood covered her clothes.
The gash from her temple to her mouth was the deepest.
She couldn’t scream anymore. Barely breathed. Her eyes trembled, terrified, yet still full of venom. “Monster… you’re the real monster…”
I stopped, chest heaving violently. My wolf whimpered, an agonized sound I had never heard from
him before.
“Throw her out of the Stormhowl Pack.” My voice came out low and deadly. “Let her fend for
herself.”
The door slammed behind her. Silence swallowed the entire house.
I collapsed onto the sofa. I didn’t know when my eyes had begun to burn.
She was right, this was all my doing. Riley’s face was nowhere in this house. Her belongings were
gone. Every trace of her had been wiped clean five years ago.
Night fell again. I sat there from daylight until darkness without moving.
In the end, I covered my face as my shoulders shook. My wolf let out a strangled, broken whimper deep inside my chest.
“I’m sorry… Riley…”
And the only sound in that enormous house was mine.
Riley’s POV
Back home, I felt completely hollow.
What was the point of replaying arguments, apologies? Would my life go back on track because someone said sorry?
I stood in front of the bathroom mirror. Cold light carved the scars on my face into something even harsher. My nose stung.
Then my phone rang. I thought it was the driving platform. But it was a different number.
“Hello, Miss Riley Monroe.”
