Approved for Her Rejected for Me novel Chapter 41

Chapter 8

The goblet slipped from his hand and shattered on the floor, red wine splashing across his shoes. His eyes

locked on me on the stage, his pupils blown wide, all the air gone out of him.

He shook his head, lips drained of color, and started shoving through the crowd. “Elise…” His voice came out

wrecked. “Elise.”

Around him, the other Alphas watched in open disbelief as Wayne shoved past them. He charged the stage.

“Elise, get down here. Come home with me.”

He lunged for the hem of my gown. Two Northern Pack warriors were on him before his fingers made

contact, driving him to the floor. His knees slammed into the marble.

He fought the warriors’ grip and wrenched his head up to find my face, something wild and desperate in his

eyes. “Elise, look at me. Just look at me. Stop this. Please, just come home.”

I stood at the edge of the stage and looked down at him. Nothing in me moved.

Victor came down the steps and drove a kick into Wayne’s chest, sending him skidding across the marble.

Blood welled at the corner of his mouth.

Victor stood over him. “Who exactly do you think you are, walking in here and saying her name like that?”

“For seven years, you had her bleeding into your potions, running your affairs, taking a blade meant for you.

You treated the princess of the Northern Pack like a servant.”

“And then, to keep your new chosen mate happy, you stripped her of the Moon Ring, let her be robbed of her

clothes, and threw her out into the snow. Consider this your reckoning.”

The room gasped, and then whispers broke out all at once.

Every Alpha in the room knew the version of the story that had been going around, Wayne, who had kept a rogue Luna for seven years and then discarded her the moment someone new came along.

No one had expected the woman he’d thrown away to be the Northern Pack’s lost princess, the one they had

been searching for for seven years.

None of it seemed to reach Wayne. He pressed one hand to his chest and pushed himself off the floor. He

didn’t even look at Victor. His eyes found mine and stayed there.

“Elise, this isn’t real. You’re angry, I get it, but this is all just to get back at me, isn’t it? None of this is real.” He

took a breath. “You said you only loved me. You nearly died for me. How are you suddenly the princess of

the Northern Pack?”

“Just come home. I’ll give you back the Moon Ring, your room, everything. All of it.”

I walked down the steps and stopped just beyond his reach. “The moment you put the Moon Ring on her finger, Elise Anderson died. The woman standing here now is Elise Voss.”

Kaven finally snapped out of it. The sight of Wayne on his knees for someone else sent her over the edge.

She pushed forward and jabbed a finger at me.

“Who do you think you’re fooling? You’re nothing but Wayne’s cast-off. You really think coming back here.

changes what you were? What you let him make you do for him?”

Something shifted in Victor’s expression. He didn’t move at all.

Two warriors stepped forward. Instead of a dozen blows, one backhanded her with brutal Lycan strength.

Kaven’s jaw cracked, and she spat blood and teeth onto the marble. The warriors dragged her out by the hair

and threw her through the doors.

Wayne didn’t look at Kaven once through any of it.

He went down on his knees in front of me.

The day after the banquet, Wayne was stripped of his title and driven out of Silver Moon territory. A rogue,

the very thing he had made me.

And still, he came. He crossed the silver-laced wards in the northern forest and stood outside my villa for

seven days straight.

The wolfsbane was already in his lungs. Each day his face went a little whiter, his wolf a little quieter. From

morning to night, he stood there for a single glimpse of me.

Victor offered to have him removed. I told him not to bother. If he wanted to play the devoted mate, I was

happy to give him an audience. I had no interest in going back to something that had already been thrown

away.
