Approved for Her Rejected for Me novel Chapter 42

Chapter 1

At the Bonding Gala, I stood with twenty she-wolves, waiting to be claimed by someone.

As the half-human, unacknowledged daughter of the Silvermoon Alpha, I understood the rules. If no Alpha

marked me tonight, I would be sent away tomorrow.

I would be delivered to the infamous ruthless Alpha, whose reputation for cruelty made even seasoned

warriors bow their heads.

Silas Thorn stood before me. He held the Moonlily in his hand, and for one devastating moment I thought he

would honor his promise.

But he smiled and offered the flower to the ordinary, unremarkable sponsored girl beside me. Yet we had agreed. He said he would give the Moonlily to me.

He bent toward my ear and murmured, soft and casual. “Let Vivian be the star for once. Her childhood was

too bleak. Don’t worry. With me here, no one will dare send you away.”

Even as my eyes pleaded with him, he still let Vivian cling to his arm.

And he said clearly, for all to hear, “Vivian is elegant and refined. Her bloodline is pure. She is worthy of a Moonlily.”

That single phrase, “pure bloodline,” sliced through me. As a hybrid wolf with no legitimate status, I became

the unspoken joke of the entire night.

My heart knotted painfully, but I forced myself to stand tall.

The gala was hosted by the ten southern packs, a gathering where Alphas and future Alphas chose their prospective mates. Every entrant came from a distinguished bloodline.

Except Vivian. Silas had brought her. I stood there like a cut of meat in a supermarket, waiting to be selected.

But in the end, I received no flower. No Alpha chose me.

My fate was sealed. Tomorrow, I would be sent north as tribute to a savage Alpha who delighted in breaking

people.

The result hardly surprised me. I was the product of an Alpha and a human. A hybrid by-blow without a title.

Life in the Silvermoon Pack had always been a battlefield.

Even though I had accidentally awakened a rare white wolf, I was afraid to tell one. The Luna was a jealous

woman. If she learned I carried a rare wolf, I doubted I would survive the night.

So who would ever choose a hybird whose power was supposedly weak and whose status was nonexistent?

I knew this long before tonight. That was why I begged Silas to help me. He had promised…and then he

changed his mind at the most critical moment.

Silas glanced toward me as I stood alone and drifted over with a drink in hand.

He said casually, “Poor thing. Not a single Alpha chose you. I told them at least one of them should leave a

Moonlily for you. Seems my influence isn’t what it used to be.”

I realized then he had tried to ask his Alpha friends. And they had refused. My composure cracked. “Do you
