Chapter 4
When I looked up, I met Leo’s eyes.
He had been in the middle of another conversation, but at some point, his attention had shifted to me.
His brows were drawn tight, suspicion flickering in his gaze. “What program did you just say? What was she
talking about?”
I pressed my lips together. “She misread it,” I said calmly. “It’s a volunteer rotation connected to the pack
hospital. An internal project.”
The lie was obvious.
He looked away anyway and did not press further.
Or maybe he simply did not care enough to ask.
On the way home, Lily messaged me again. I gave her a vague reply, still not telling her that Leo and I were
mates.
She loved fiercely and hated fiercely. The thing she despised most was a third party. In my past life, she had been the harshest toward Liora.

Liora stood in yoga clothes, smiling sweetly at the camera.
The caption read:
[Baby, can you feel Mommy and Daddy’s love? Come out soon. We can’t wait.]
I tapped like without a word.
Just as I lowered my phone, a message from Leo appeared.
[When my baby with Liora learns to walk, let’s have one too. The two pups can grow up together.]
I nearly gagged.
I pretended I never saw it.
That night, they returned carrying bags full of baby clothes and toys.
For a moment, I was pulled back into my past life. Back to when I had eagerly prepared clothes and toys for

our child.
Every time I brought baby clothes home, Leo threw them straight into the fire pit and burned them in front of
If I showed even the slightest displeasure, he would sneer, “Liora’s pup, the one you drove to death, never even got to see the world. And you have the nerve to bring pup clothes into the pack house. Do you feel no guilt at all?”
He had completely forgotten what he promised when we sealed the mate bond.
He swore I would be his only mate. That he would have no children except ours. If he broke that vow, the Moon Goddess would punish him.
In the end, he broke the oath.
And I paid the price.
I walked toward the door quietly.
