Vanessa thought about it for a moment, then nodded. “Okay.”

Daniel immediately snapped his fingers. “Great! Starting today, you sleep by yourself.”

Vanessa pouted. “Daniel, even though Sabrina usually sleeps with me, when I wake up in the middle of the night, she’s never in my room anymore.”

Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was clear enough.

Not only Daniel heard it, but Vincent and the others did too.

Daniel and Harris instantly understood the implication. They both looked at Vincent with expressions that screamed, “You sly dog!”

Sabrina, sensing their thoughts, blushed deeply, lowering her head in embarrassment without saying a word.

Vincent, on the other hand, met Daniel and Harris’ gazes without a flicker of emotion on his face.

After a moment, he stood up and said to Vanessa, “Vanessa, time to go home.”

Vanessa looked up at him, clearly reluctant.

Vincent frowned. “Have you forgotten what your mother told you?”

Mentioning her mother made Vanessa a little angry, but seeing the stern look on Vincent’s face, she didn’t dare argue further.

“Fine,” she said, standing up and offering her hand to Vincent.

The next day was Monday. When Scarlett woke up, a light rain was falling outside. She threw on a coat, grabbed an umbrella, and left Theron Manor.

She was back at Ravenshade Villa before 7 a.m.

Vincent had only said she couldn’t stay at Ravenshade Villa-not that she couldn’t come back to cook for Vanessa.

Besides, Vanessa wasn’t fully recovered yet, so she thought she’d come for a couple more days.

After starting some oatmeal on the stove, she saw it was getting late and headed upstairs to

wake Vanessa.

As she passed Vincent’s room, the door suddenly opened.

Vincent stood there in gray pajamas. Seeing Scarlett, clear surprise flashed in his eyes.

Scarlett looked past him. In the room behind him, Sabrina, wearing light blue pajamas, was sitting at the vanity applying her skincare.

There was a time when that was her spot, but Vincent was never standing beside her then.

Perhaps sensing Scarlett’s gaze into the bedroom, Vincent instinctively stepped forward, blocking her view.

His voice held a note of displeasure. “What are you doing here?”

Scarlett met his gaze, her eyes cold. “I’m here to make breakfast for Vanessa. Once her lymph nodes are back to normal, I won’t come again.”

Vincent said, “Vanessa is much better now.”

A hint of irritation colored Scarlett’s tone. “Vincent, I’m a doctor. I only go by the results.”

With that, she didn’t want to waste another word on him. She turned and walked towards Vanessa’s room.

Vanessa was still asleep in bed.

School was starting soon. Scarlett called softly, “Vanessa, time to get up for school.”

Vanessa rolled over, mumbling discontentedly, “Mom, I want to sleep more. Stop bothering

me.”

Scarlett said, “It’s Monday. Aren’t you going to school?”

Vanessa pulled the covers over her head. “Can’t I just skip? I skipped last week too.”

Scarlett felt a surge of anger. Her refusal was firm. “No. Your stomach doesn’t hurt anymore, so you have to go to school. You need to develop good habits-no being late or leaving early.”

Annoyed, Vanessa kicked the blankets a couple of times in protest before saying resentfully, “Fine, Mom. You’re so naggy.”

Seeing her daughter like this, a sharp pain pierced Scarlett’s heart. She looked up, refusing to let the tears fall, and sighed. “I have to go to work. Have your dad take you.”

With that, she stood up.

But no. Vanessa did nothing.

Steeling her heart, Scarlett left Vanessa’s room without a second glance.

Passing Vincent’s room again, the door was slightly ajar.

Scarlett instinctively glanced inside. Vincent was already dressed, standing with his back to the door. Sabrina stood in front of him, tying his tie.

He had even bent his head down slightly to help her reach.

Scarlett quickly averted her eyes after just one glance.

Walking downstairs, she couldn’t help but think. I know how to tie a tie too. But he never needed me to do it.

Vincent wasn’t one who liked being touched by others. But for Sabrina, he could throw all his principles out the window.

Downstairs, Lily, seeing Scarlett’s distraught state, called out softly, “Mrs. Stewart?”

Scarlett looked at her, forcing a faint smile. “Lily, I’m going to work.”

Lily quickly asked, “Aren’t you having breakfast?”

Scarlett said, “No. There’s no time,”
