Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 199

Chapter 199 The Banquet

She hadn’t expected the little boy to find her prettier than Sabrina.

Scarlett gently patted his head. “Thank you,” she said softly.

The boy opened his arms, his eyes still red-rimmed. “Miss, hug?”

Being a mother herself, Scarlett couldn’t resist the longing in his eyes. She picked him up, sat on the stool, and settled him on her lap.

“About that little girl pinching you… how about I apologize on her behalf?”

The boy blinked his big, round eyes. “No, it’s not your fault. When I’m back at school, I’ll tell the teacher. The teacher will talk to her.”

Scarlett gave a light laugh. “Okay, we’ll do it

your way then.”

Vanessa might not listen to me, but she’ll have to listen to her teacher.

The boy tilted his head and looked at Scarlett seriously. “Miss, can I have your contact info?”

Before Scarlett could respond, a sudden commotion arose at the entrance.

She glanced toward the entrance and saw Damian walking in. He was with the same woman who had been in his passenger seat the night before. Today, she was wearing a fitted cocktail dress and a simple pearl bracelet. Her long hair was styled in a soft, half-up look, and her high heels accentuated her long, toned legs, making her already slender frame appear even taller.

Her figure was striking, with the kind of perfectly balanced curves she’d expect to see on a video game character.

The woman held onto Damian’s arm as they entered the main hall amidst the crowd. Their appearance drew envious glances from many of the women present.

Damian had noticed Scarlett the moment he walked in. He saw her holding the little boy, and his brow furrowed slightly.

But almost immediately, he looked away, engaging with the people fawning over him with an air of obvious indifference.

Many guests, using the pretense of toasting, glanced curiously at the woman beside Damian and asked, “Mr. Langley, who might this lovely lady be?”

Damian glanced at the woman beside him, a meaningful, broad smile spreading across his face. “This? This is the woman who is closest to me every single day.”

His suggestive explanation, combined with his roguish handsome face, made anyone who heard it let their imaginations run wild.

The “closest woman”… surely that meant she shared his bed, didn’t it? Given Damian’s notorious reputation, everyone immediately wore a knowing expression.

The clustered group burst into hearty laughter over something that was said.

Scarlett quickly glanced in Damian’s direction, then averted her eyes.

It’s a good thing I never believed a word he said. Otherwise, seeing him out and about with another woman like this would be heartbreaking.

The little boy in her arms noticed her distraction. He tugged gently on her dress. “Miss?”

Scarlett snapped back to attention and smiled at him. “Sure.”

She wrote her phone number on a slip of paper and handed it to the boy.

He took it carefully and tucked it into his pocket. “Thank you.”

Just then, a deep, pleasant male voice called out from behind them, “Eric, come here.”

Scarlett turned and saw a man wearing glasses. He was dressed in a steel-gray suit that accentuated his mature demeanor. His neat, short hair didn’t reach his ears. With his strong brows and deep-set eyes, he had a very handsome face.

However, there wasn’t a trace of a smile on his face; he looked serious and meticulous, giving off an unapproachable, distant vibe.

Hearing the call, the little boy slid off Scarlett’s lap. Looking at the newcomer, he called out happily, “Daddy!”

The man extended his hand toward the boy, his tone cold and flat. “Come here.”

The boy placed his chubby little hand into the man’s, uttering a reluctant “Oh.”

From start to finish, the man’s gaze didn’t linger on Scarlett’s face for even a second; he didn’t even bother to look at her.

The little boy, however, kept turning back to smile at Scarlett as his father led him away. “Bye bye, Miss!”

Scarlett waved back. “Goodbye.”

It was such a brief encounter; she hadn’t even had time to ask the boy’s name. But she really

After watching the boy and his father leave, Scarlett turned her attention back to the room just in time to see Vincent and Sabrina coming down the stairs together.

As soon as they descended, the crowd that had been surrounding Damian shifted their attention to Vincent, vying to curry favor.

Scarlett paid no mind to these people’s social performances. She was about to turn away to get some food when she felt something press against her back from behind.

Before she could even react, she heard a soft, apologetic female voice say, “I’m so sorry! It was an accident! Let me pay for the dress?”

Scarlett turned around and saw a woman in a light blue floor-length gown. She seemed younger than Scarlett.
