They were on the verge of divorce. And they hadn’t been intimate in three or four months.
So, naturally, the condoms he purchased were clearly intended for use with Sabrina.
After seeing them, Scarlett quickly averted her gaze after just a brief glance.
When they placed their items on the checkout counter, she heard Vincent’s puzzled voice behind her. “Why don’t you pick up some snacks you like?”
Scarlett didn’t even turn her head, replying flatly, “No need.”
Vincent paused. He genuinely wanted to buy her something she enjoyed, but the frustrating truth was, he had no idea what her favorite snacks were.
When they arrived at Stewart Manor, Xavier hadn’t eaten yet.
Seeing them return together, Xavier was overjoyed and immediately bustled about, instructing the household staff to prepare additional dishes for the meal.
After giving directions, he asked happily, “What brings you back today?”
Usually, the young couple didn’t visit unless there was a specific occasion. It was especially rare to see Scarlett and Vincent arriving together.
Vincent placed the gifts they’d purchased on the table and answered calmly, “Scarlett wanted to come see you.”
Hearing Vincent refer to her so familiarly, Xavier’s face broke into a wide smile. “Wonderful! You’ve finally come to your senses. You understand now that a good marriage is built by two people together.”
Scarlett remained silent, simply turning her head to look at Vincent. He glanced back at her, a rare smile appearing on his face.
Seeing his smile, Scarlett felt nothing, offering no response in return.
Xavier, however, was thrilled to see Vincent smiling at Scarlett. He couldn’t help but hope that Vincent had finally recognized Scarlett’s worth and intended to cherish her properly.
During dinner, even before Xavier could prompt him, Vincent began serving food onto Scarlett’s plate.
Scarlett frowned, completely baffled by his behavior. But with Xavier present, she refrained from speaking up.

Seeing them getting along so harmoniously, Xavier finally felt a sense of relief.
After the meal, Xavier insisted, “You’re staying the night here. Tomorrow is Sunday, perfect for the two of you to accompany me for a walk.”
Scarlett didn’t reply, but Vincent agreed first. “Whatever you arrange is fine, Grandpa.”
Seeing Vincent agree made Xavier even happier.
Scarlett held back her questions until Xavier had retired for the evening.
Once they went upstairs, Scarlett stood by the doorway, unwilling to even step fully inside. She got straight to the point. “Vincent, what is the meaning of all this?”
She had come with him because he claimed he’d found the marriage certificates–not to put on an act for Xavier.
What was the point of all this performance? It was entirely artificial.
Seeing her angry expression, Vincent gave a slight smile. He took her arm and said, “Let’s talk inside.”
Scarlett resisted, pulling her arm free. “I can walk by myself.”
She strode angrily into the room and sat down on the sofa.
Vincent sat down beside her, turning to look at her. “The marriage certificates are with Grandpa.”
Hearing this, Scarlett was momentarily stunned, but she quickly understood.
In the entire Stewart family, only Xavier genuinely wanted her and Vincent to make their marriage work. Him hiding the certificates was likely because he feared they might divorce suddenly.
After a few seconds of silence, Scarlett looked at Vincent. “Since Grandpa has them, then we’ll treat them as lost. We can apply for replacements. We can still proceed with the divorce.”
Hearing her bring up divorce again, Vincent’s expression darkened.
But soon, he spoke again, his tone light, “There’s one more thing.”
Scarlett frowned. “What else?”
Vincent leaned back against the sofa cushions. “Let’s do it one more time,” he said, as casually as discussing the weather.

Scarlett shot to her feet. “Vincent, you’re being completely unreasonable!” she snapped.
She turned to leave, but Vincent grabbed her arm and pulled her back toward him with little effort.
He leaned in close, his breath warm against her skin. “You’re always saying I only last three minutes. Don’t I deserve a chance to prove myself?”
Scarlett leaned back as far as she could, putting distance between them. She turned her face away, not wanting to look at him. “Vincent, it’s too late for all that now. I’m not going to let you do whatever you want like I used to.”
But her resistance didn’t faze him. He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her firmly against his body.
He bent his head, aiming for her lips.
Scarlett pushed against him fiercely. “Vincent, this is illegal! Do you understand that?” she cried out sharply.
Unmoved, Vincent reached into his pocket and retrieved a condom.
He placed it on the sofa beside them, then began unbuttoning his own shirt with his other hand.
