Vincent felt his shirt growing damp from Sabrina’s tears. He didn’t scold her, instead asking gently, “What wish?”
Sabrina looked up at him. “I’m twenty–six now. She says I’m still not married.”
Vincent paused at her words and fell silent.
Sabrina quickly added, “Vincent, I know I’m putting you in a difficult position.”
Vincent’s expression stiffened slightly, but he force
d a faint smile. “No, you’re not. I’ll figure something out.”

When Scarlett returned to Theron Manor, the lights were still glowing warmly inside.
Entering the main hall, she saw Nathan and Violet still sitting at the dining table.
Both looked over as she came in.
Scarlett walked toward them. “Nathan, Violet.”
Nathan looked Scarlett over carefully, ensuring she was unharmed, then said, “Sit down.”
Scarlett settled into the chair beside Violet.
Violet studied her face, her heart aching. “Did you have dinner?”
Scarlett nodded. “Yes, I have.”
Only then did Violet seem to relax. “Clara cried for a long time tonight. She just cried herself to sleep, so I had the nanny put her to bed.”
Scarlett felt a pang of guilt but didn’t know what to say.
Violet reached under the table and held Scarlett’s cold hand. “Thank you for taking Clara out today. It must have been exhausting.”
Scarlett shook her head with a soft smile. “It wasn’t tiring at all. I was happy spending time with Clara. It made me feel… truly happy.”
Violet patted the back of her hand. Though she didn’t speak, Scarlett understood the silent sympathy. As mothers, they both understood the particular pain of a daughter’s rejection.

While they were talking, Nathan produced a bank card from his wallet. He placed it on the table and slid it toward Scarlett. “Take this card. If the divorce settlement negotiations keep dragging on, don’t get stuck haggling over money. The Stewart family is wealthy, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be generous with you. Rather than waiting for his reluctant offers, it’s better to walk away with your dignity. After the divorce, Violet and I will support you. You won’t have to worry about finances.”
Hearing this, Scarlett’s eyes instantly welled up. She refused, “Nathan, I have enough savings to support myself. I can’t accept this.”
She hadn’t gone into the specific terms of the divorce with her family, so it was natural Nathan assumed the settlement wasn’t finalized.
In reality, Vincent had been relatively generous, offering her a substantial financial compensation.
Seeing her refusal, Violet still pressed the card firmly into Scarlett’s hand. “Don’t say it’s too little. It’s our way of showing we care about you.”
Clutching the bank card, a wave of emotion washed over Scarlett. Tears rolled silently down her cheeks.
She still couldn’t bring herself to share all the divorce details with her family.
The process had already dragged on for so long; now they were just waiting for the marriage certificates to start the mandatory waiting period at the courthouse.
This only strengthened her resolve to be honest with Xavier.

The next day, when Vanessa woke up, there was no one beside her..
Vincent wasn’t there. Sabrina wasn’t there either.
The room was spacious, but eerily quiet, without a single sound.
Vanessa immediately started crying, calling out, “Daddy! Sabrina!”
Lily, hearing Vanessa’s cries, hurried upstairs from the first floor.
She entered the bedroom and picked Vanessa up.
Vanessa buried her face in Lily’s shoulder, sobbing. “Lily, where are Daddy and Sabrina?”
Lily explained, “Ms. Monroe had to go to the university research lab. She left early this morning. Mr. Stewart took Maria to the hospital for a follow–up appointment.”

Hearing this, Vanessa’s mood plummeted.

She tried to suppress the discomfort in her heart, leaning limply against Lily.
But for some reason, she suddenly missed Scarlett a little.
If Mom were here, she would never have left her alone at home.
For as long as she could remember, Scarlett had always been by her side.
But now, Mom wasn’t with her anymore.
Lily noticed Vanessa seemed down. “Vanessa, what’s wrong?” she asked, leaning down.
Vanessa shook her head. “Lily, I want to call Daddy.”
Having just woken up, Vanessa’s hair was a mess, and she still looked sleepy.
Lily agreed and dialed Vincent’s number.
He answered quickly, but it was noisy on his end, likely because he was at the hospital.
“Vanessa.” Vincent’s voice came through the phone.
Hearing her father’s voice, Vanessa couldn’t hold back anymore. Her eyes instantly turned red, and tears started falling. “Daddy,” she wailed, “there’s no one here with me.”
Vincent’s heart clenched at his daughter’s words. He could only coax her softly, “Be a good girl, Vanessa. I will come back as soon as I’m finished here.”
Vanessa asked tentatively, “Can you be back by ten o’clock?” It was only a little past eight now.
Vincent hesitated, but told her the truth. “Vanessa, I probably won’t be back until this evening.”
