Regardless of Damian’s usual demeanor, Eric genuinely liked Scarlett.
He ran over and gave her an enthusiastic hug. “Ms. Theron, you look so pretty today.”
Scarlett, who had been feeling somewhat down, smiled more warmly at his compliment. “Thank you, Eric.”
Clara heard Eric too. She turned to look and asked, “Are you here to paint autumn scenes as well?”
Eric released Scarlett and nodded. “Yes.”
Clara then looked up at Felix and greeted him politely, “Hello, Mr. Wilson.”
Felix, who rarely smiled and maintained a serious expression, nodded in return. “Hello.”
Scarlett also acknowledged Felix with a slight nod.
Clara tugged at Eric’s sleeve. “Come over here and paint with me.”
Eric hesitated slightly. It wasn’t that he was afraid of Clara; he just wanted to find a way to notify Damian.
Despite Damian’s sharp tongue, Eric knew very well that he was a genuinely good person. During the most difficult years for his father, it was Damian who had helped them through.
Clara pulled at him again. “Sit down already! Why are you so stiff? I don’t bite.”
Eric glanced back at his father and then said to Clara, “Okay, I’ll sit. Stop pulling, you’re going to tear my shirt.”
Clara rolled her eyes. “So dramatic.”
Seeing Felix still standing, Scarlett offered with a faint smile, “Mr. Wilson, if you don’t mind, you’re welcome to sit on the grass with us.”
Felix nodded but declined politely. “No need, thank you. I should make a phone call.” He had understood the look in his son’s eyes. Even if Eric hadn’t signaled, he would have contacted Damian anyway.
Scarlett didn’t press further, turning her attention back to guiding Clara with her painting.
Felix took out his phone and captured a photo. In the frame, Scarlett, Clara, and Eric were sitting on the grass with an easel before them and the picturesque park in the background.

He had just sent the image when Damian called.

Felix walked some distance away before answering. “What is it?”
Damian got straight to the point. “You’re with her?”
Felix replied flatly, “Yes.”
Damian urged, “Send me the location.”
“Okay.” After ending the call, Felix sent the park coordinates.
It wasn’t long before Damian arrived.
And just as Damian appeared, Vincent also showed up on the grass, carrying Vanessa.
Damian stood beside Felix, muttering under his breath, “Ugh. He’s everywhere.”
Felix smiled faintly without comment, his gaze returning to his son.
Scarlett noticed Damian and hesitated about whether to greet him, but then she saw Vincent and the others arriving. In the end, she didn’t end up acknowledging Damian.
Vincent also spotted Scarlett and the group. He paused briefly while holding Vanessa but didn’t say anything, simply settling down not far away.
After they were seated, Lily set up an easel for Vanessa and handed her a paintbrush.
Vincent had brought a small folding table. He placed his laptop on it and began working, not participating in Vanessa’s painting but focusing on his screen.
Meanwhile, Damian, seeing that Scarlett was ignoring him, didn’t initiate conversation either. Instead, he went over to Eric, glanced at his painting, and said discontentedly, “You’re doing it wrong.”
Eric pouted. “Then how should I paint it?”
Damian said, “Why are you painting flowers in an autumn scene? You should paint maple leaves, or maybe goldenrod.”
Eric said dejectedly, “But I don’t know how.”
Hearing this, Scarlett proactively leaned over. “Eric, let me show you.”
It wasn’t that she wanted to get close to Damian; she was just concerned he might discourage the child.

As Scarlett leaned in, the breeze carried a faint, fresh scent from her. Damian inhaled subtly, the tips of his ears growing wärm.
Soon, Scarlett had sketched out a goldenrod plant. Both Clara and Eric clapped their hands and praised her.
“Auntie, you’re amazing!”
“Ms. Theron, you draw so well! The teacher will definitely praise it!”
Scarlett didn’t think her drawing was particularly special, but the children’s enthusiastic admiration made her slightly embarrassed.
She touched her ear and smiled, asking, “Is it really that good?”
The two children answered in unison, “Yes!”
Mingled with their voices was Damian’s quiet, almost inaudible, “Yes.” His voice was so soft it was drowned out by the children’s.
Vanessa could hear the laughter and lively conversation from their group.
She held her brush, her hand poised over the paper on her easel, but she didn’t know where to begin.
The teacher had said to paint autumn, but what did autumn really look like?
Vanessa turned her head. She saw Vincent typing on his computer, and Lily watching a series on her phone with her head down.
They were kind to her, but they weren’t truly concerned about whether she could complete her assignment.
