Awakened Housewife: Ignore Betrayer’s Begs
Chapter 223 A Heart’s True North
No matter what Damian did, Vincent was the only one in Scarlett’s heart.
->
He had known it from the very beginning–Scarlett loved Vincent.

From start to finish, he was the only one who refused to accept it, the only one still clinging to a childhood promise.
Even if he gave his life for her, she probably wouldn’t remember his devotion.
Her heart had always belonged to Vincent.
Still, a stubborn part of him wondered–what if someday she did remember that promise?
After Scarlett bit him, Vincent didn’t
press
further.
He unlocked the car door and watched her rush out as if escaping a trap.
Leaning back against the seat, he observed her hurried retreat with a faint, mocking smile.
Then his gaze shifted toward the spot where Damian had been standing moments before.
He’d noticed Damian watching long before she had.
By the time Scarlett returned to the lawn, Felix was already packing Eric’s easel and art supplies.
Clara had finished her assignment and was playing tag with Eric nearby.
With Lily’s help, Vanessa had completed her autumn painting.
Everyone seemed accounted for–except Damian.
Scarlett scanned the area, but he was nowhere in sight.
She assumed he must have left for some reason.
Once Felix finished organizing everything, he told Eric to say goodbye.
After waving to the others, Scarlett began gathering Clara’s belongings.
Only after Eric and his father had driven off did Clara tug at Scarlett’s sleeve and whisper, “Auntie, can we eat out tonight? I’m really craving pizza.”
Scarlett smiled down at her. “But your mom said we were all having dinner at home tonight.”

Clara raised her smartwatch. “Mom just called. Family dinner is canceled–Dad’s working late, and she’s going to keep him company.”
Scarlett thought for a moment. “Let me call your mom to make sure.”
Clara nodded eagerly. “Okay.”
Scarlett called Violet to ask if she could take Clara out for pizza. Violet agreed but reminded her to avoid anything too spicy and make sure Clara didn’t have soda too late.
Scarlett noted each instruction before ending the call.
Just as she put her phone away, she noticed Vincent and Sabrina approaching from the parking lot.
They walked side by side, sharing a lighthearted conversation as if enjoying a private joke.
A small bandage on Vincent’s cheek likely covered the mark she’d left earlier.
When Vanessa spotted Sabrina, she ran over excitedly. “Sabrina, you’re here!”
Her voice carried clearly, almost as if she wanted to make sure Scarlett heard.
Sabrina bent down to catch Vanessa, then lifted her into her arms.
As she stood, she seemed to wobble slightly–whether intentionally or not–and Vincent reached out to steady her, his hand resting briefly on her waist.
“You okay?” he asked softly, his tone unusually gentle.
Sabrina shook her head, a soft smile gracing her lips. “I’m fine, Vincent.”
Vincent gently brushed a stray strand of hair from her face. “Let’s head back then. We shouldn’t keep your mother waiting.”
Sabrina blushed and nodded. “Alright.”
Vincent held his hands out toward Vanessa. “Come here, sweetheart. It’s a long walk–Sabrina can’t carry you the whole way.”
Vanessa pouted slightly but agreed. “Okay, then.”
Sabrina chuckled softly. “Vincent, it’s alright. I can manage.”
But Vincent didn’t indulge her; he firmly took Vanessa into his own arms.

With Sabrina around, Vanessa no longer seemed to need Scarlett.
As for Vincent, he didn’t so much as glance in Scarlett’s direction.
Father and daughter really were alike in that way.
Lily, standing nearby, shot Scarlett an apologetic look.
But as a hired helper, there was little she could say or do about her employers‘ personal
matters.
Clara, noticing where Scarlett’s attention had drifted, gently tugged her hand. “Auntie, let’s go too.”
Scarlett withdrew her gaze, gathered their things, and took Clara’s hand.
After leaving the park, Scarlett drove them to a nearby pizza place.
Once they were seated in a booth, she let Clara choose what she wanted.
They settled on a medium pepperoni pizza and a fresh apple juice for Clara, while Scarlett ordered a burger for herself.
Just after they’d placed their order, a familiar young voice called out, “Ms. Theron!”
Scarlett looked up and saw not only Eric but also Damian, who’d disappeared that afternoon.
“Eric,” she greeted warmly, then turned to Damian. “Mr. Langley.”
Damian had seen her the moment they walked in. He hadn’t come looking for her–this was a genuine coincidence.
His mood had been sour since the incident in the car, and running into the source of his frustration now only deepened his irritation.
He didn’t respond to Scarlett, simply shifting his gaze away.
Unaware of the tension, Eric slid into the seat beside Scarlett.
The boy still held out hope that he could create a chance for Damian to spend some time with her.
