After Daniel and the other man had left, Scarlett and Claire helped Violet to her feet and guided her out of the restaurant.
Once their car had pulled away, two figures emerged from the shadows near the valet stand- Daniel and the man who had tried to take Violet with him.
In the cool autumn night, they lit cigarettes, the flames briefly illuminating their faces.
Daniel glanced at the man and said with a smirk, “What a shame. You missed out on some fun tonight.”
The man ignored the comment, instead gazing in the direction Scarlett’s car had disappeared. “So that’s the woman standing in my sister’s way?”
Daniel raised an eyebrow. “That’s her.”
The man was Caleb Monroe, Sabrina’s biological brother.
In business, Daniel had helped Caleb before–partly out of his own affection for Sabrina.
Over time, they had grown closer.
Hearing Daniel’s confirmation, a flicker of surprise crossed Caleb’s eyes. “I have to say, she’s got some nerve. And she’s not bad–looking either–almost as striking as Violet.”
Daniel thought for a moment before replying, “She’s definitely attractive. The problem is her stubbornness–she just won’t give Vincent a divorce.”
Caleb chuckled. “A man like Vincent is rare. Once you’ve latched onto him, of course you wouldn’t want to let go.”
As soon as he said it, he realized his words could apply to more than just Scarlett.
He fell silent for a moment, then his expression turned cold. “But she ruined my fun tonight and is stealing my sister’s future. She’s bringing trouble on herself.”
Daniel took a couple of drags from his cigarette before responding casually, “I didn’t hear a word of what you just said.”
His meaning was clear–he was giving Caleb implicit permission to act as he pleased.

Throughout the journey, Violet tossed restlessly, muttering fragments of conversation.

“Mr. Lennox, Lennox Group has always processed transactions through our financial platform. All these years, there haven’t been any issues. Our technology is mature. Please, you mustn’t terminate our cooperation.”
“Mr. Lennox, you flatter me. I have a husband. I’m a married woman. I’m not qualified to warm your bed–I’m not even fit to shine your shoes.”
“Mr. Monroe, I don’t know how I’ve offended you. Please tell me directly so I can correct my mistakes.”
From Violet’s ramblings, Scarlett pieced together what had happened.
The Theron family was in the financial services industry. Partnerships with major corporations were essential for substantial revenue and the company’s survival.
But Daniel, who had long cooperated with their company, had suddenly withdrawn his business, plunging the financial firm into crisis.
To resolve the issue, Violet had gone to meet Daniel in person.
Scarlett was sure Violet had humbled herself, but she also knew Daniel’s earlier claims were
fabricated.
Violet had sacrificed so much for this family.
She had gone to that meeting alone, disregarding her own safety, all for the sake of a slim
chance.
Thinking of this, Scarlett’s eyes
welled up
with tears.
After getting Violet back to her room, Scarlett stayed by her side, caring for her without leaving.
She wiped her hands, cleaned her up, changed her clothes…
Violet vomited twice before finally settling into a deep sleep.
Scarlett kept vigil in the room. It was well past midnight when Violet gradually woke up.
The first thing Violet did upon waking was frantically feel her own body.
Realizing her clothes had been changed, she slapped herself hard.
Hearing the sound, Scarlett quickly grabbed her hand. “Violet, no! It was me who changed your

Hearing Scarlett’s voice, Violet’s panic slowly subsided.

Scarlett hugged her tightly, feeling Violet’s body tremble. “Why would you do something so foolish?” she whispered soothingly.
Violet said, “I see your brother working himself to the bone, not even sleeping, all for the company. I just wanted to help him in some small way.”
Tears streamed down Scarlett’s face. “Having someone as good as you in our family is a blessing for all of us,” she said, her voice choked.
Violet was still dejected. “It’s just a pity I couldn’t actually help. I almost…”
Scarlett gently patted her back. “What matters is that you’re safe. Nothing else is important. There are ways to live whether we’re rich or poor. As long as our family stays together, we can overcome any difficulty.”
Violet was comforted, but thinking of Nathan, she anxiously warned Scarlett, “No matter what, your brother must never find out about what happened tonight. With his temper, he would never let it go.”
Scarlett understood the gravity of the situation and promised Violet she wouldn’t tell.
