A sudden thought crossed Sabrina’s mind–perhaps that lingering glance from Damian meant he too had been captivated by her beauty.
She’d heard all the rumors about Damian Langley. Being noticed by him, even briefly, sent a secret thrill through her.
She had to admit, Damian carried himself with the same commanding presence as Vincent. But the idea of winning over Damian’s heart felt like an even greater conquest. After all, Vincent only had Scarlett, while Damian was known for his wandering eye.
Sabrina even entertained the fantasy that if she could make the notoriously fickle Damian settle down, wouldn’t that prove her charm surpassed that of other women?
Though Damian had only glanced at her once, her imagination had already constructed an entire romantic narrative. Lost in these nonexistent thoughts, Sabrina even blushed faintly.

inside.
Vincent didn’t take Damian’s words seriously. He took Sabrina’s hand and said, “Let’s I’ll introduce you to some prominent figures in the medical field.”
Sabrina snapped out of her reverie. “Oh, alright.”
After they entered, Daniel approached Damian with a smirk. “Mr. Langley, you may have many women, but not every woman is easily won. Sabrina, for instance–you’ll never have her.”
Daniel looked utterly confident. Damian found it laughable.
“Mr. Lennox, so sure of yourself? What are you, Sabrina’s personal guard dog?”
Daniel’s face instantly paled with anger. “Damian, don’t you dare be so arrogant!”
Damian raised his chin, looking down on him with condescending mockery. “You think you’re worthy of challenging me?”
Furious, Daniel looked ready to throw a punch, but Harris grabbed his arm. “Daniel, calm down. This is Mr. Warren’s birthday party.”
Picking a fight with Damian would only end badly for Daniel. Knowing this, Daniel stopped his bluster. He flicked his sleeve in anger. “Let’s go.”
Caleb’s gaze shifted from Scarlett, who stood behind Damian, back to the group. He followed Daniel and Harris into Warren Villa.
As he entered, he glanced back at Scarlett once more, a cold smile curling his lips. “Interesting.”

This was his second time seeing Scarlett. He found her not only beautiful but also intriguingly appealing.
Maybe after Vincent divorced her, he could swoop in and comfort her broken heart. And when he got bored, he could just kick her to the curb. The thought excited him strangely.
After the unpleasant group had entered the villa, Damian turned to Scarlett. “Are you okay?” he asked softly.
Scarlett’s face showed no emotion, no ripple of feeling. She shook her head. “I’m fine.”
Seeing her composure, Damian felt relieved.
Noticing her high heels, he took her hand and tucked it into the crook of his arm. “Hold onto me,” he instructed.
Scarlett didn’t refuse. She gently held his arm. “Alright.”
Inside Warren Villa, a vast lawn opened up before them, dotted with numerous tables and chairs laden with a dazzling array of fruits and petits fours.
Besides the food, there was champagne, wine, soft drinks… The guests were numerous, spanning all age groups.
Scarlett didn’t know anyone, so she didn’t attempt to mingle. Not seeing Vincent and the others made her feel more at ease.
Damian stayed with her in a corner seat, fetching her various fruits and cakes until her table was piled high, then he finally stopped.
Scarlett stared at the mountain of food in astonishment. She turned to Damian, frowning. “Are you trying to fatten me up like livestock?”
Damian chuckled. “Just try a bit of everything. See what you like.”
Knowing he meant well, she thanked him. “Thank you.”
Damian was about to reply when a male voice sounded behind him. “Mr. Langley?”
The birthday banquet, put nicely, was a celebration. Put bluntly, it was an opportunity for networking and currying favor with influential figures.
Someone of Damian’s status naturally attracted many sycophants.
Damian turned to the speaker with a faint smile. “Hello.”
The man quickly, raised his glass to clink with Damian’s. “Mr. Langley, I’ve long admired you.

This drink is in your honor.” He downed his glass in one go.
Damian watched him but only took a small sip.

The man wasn’t embarrassed. Instead, he looked at Scarlett and asked tentatively, “Mr. Langley, and this lovely lady is…?”
Damian glanced at Scarlett. She was slowly peeling a chestnut, a strand of hair falling over her cheek. She sat there quietly, serene as a painting.
He found himself momentarily captivated.
Snapping out of it, he said to the man, “Unlike my usual companions, this is my goddess. The woman I dream of making mine.”
