Chapter 450 Desperate Search
Vincent didn’t answer, just slowly withdrew his hand.
By the time he finally pulled free, Sabrina’s tears were falling faster. “Vincent.”
“I need to find Vanessa first,” he said. “We’ll talk about the rest later.”
His tone made it clear there would be a reckoning.

Sabrina felt as if a needle had pierced her heart. She clutched her chest, struggling to breathe.
Only after Vincent left the room did she finally lose control. She swept everything off the bedside table with her arm.
At the same time, she screamed hysterically, “Vanessa, you little brat! Because of you, Vincent thinks I failed him!”
Sabrina gritted her teeth, her eyes blazing with a rage that felt all-consuming.
But stronger than the anger was fear-the fear that Vincent would pull away from her because of this.
But he had already proposed… Hadn’t he?
Scarlett came out of the inpatient building. Just as she reached the main lobby, she noticed it had started raining outside.
The rain wasn’t heavy but had come on suddenly.
Soon the pavement was glistening wet.
Scarlett searched every corner of the hospital first. When she didn’t find Vanessa, she hurried outside.
It was raining. Without a second thought, she rushed out into the downpour.
Under the rain, it was impossible to tell whether the wetness on her face was tears or rainwater.
Her eyes were red as she called Vanessa’s name, her voice growing hoarse. Even when no answer came, she kept calling, over and over.
In her panic, she even forgot to call the police.

Terrified of missing any possible clue, she didn’t dare overlook even the shrubs lining the walkways.
When Vincent came out of the building, he saw Scarlett crouched by the flower beds on the hospital grounds, searching desperately.
At the same time, she was murmuring, “Vanessa, please stop hiding, sweetheart. Come out now. Mommy can’t find you… Mommy’s so worried.”
The choked-up strain in her voice was unmistakable.
Vincent stood watching, his heart aching with a mix of pain and regret. Unable to bear it, he rushed into the rain and caught her arm.
“Scarlett, she’s not here.”
The rain blurred their vision. Vincent narrowed his eyes, looking at her pale profile.
Scarlett turned and glared at him, her face full of resentment and fury.
But before she could speak, Vincent said hoarsely, “Don’t do this. Let’s call the police.”
Hearing that, Scarlett blinked, and fresh tears streamed down her cheeks. She shouted at him, “Then call them! Why are you just standing here telling me?”
Seeing her frantic, agitated state, Vincent stepped closer and drew her into his arms. He lowered his head near her ear. “Don’t panic. She’s going to be alright.”
Going to be alright?
Hearing those words, Scarlett felt as if a hand had clenched around her heart. She shoved him away violently. “Alright? Until we find her, what gives you the right to promise me that? What right?”
She screamed with all her strength, the veins standing out on her neck, her eyes so red’they looked ready to bleed.
Watching her tears, Vincent’s own chest twisted with pain.
He looked at her, but before he could respond, Scarlett fired another question at him, “Vincent, didn’t I tell you to bring Vanessa home? Why did you trust Sabrina so completely? Is she so perfect? So worthy of your faith?”
She yelled the words while pounding his chest with her fists. “If anything happens to Vanessa, I will never forgive you.”

Hearing that, Vincent showed no defensiveness. Instead, he pulled her tightly against him again and said into her hair, “I’ve already sent people to look. Don’t worry. She really will be okay.”
Scarlett’s whole body was trembling. She tried with all her might to push him away, but her strength was gone.
Seeing her like that, Vincent took her hands in his and said in a low, coaxing voice, “It’s my fault. Hit me if it helps.”
As he spoke, he brought her hands up toward his own chest.
He thought if she could just release her emotions, he would let her do anything.
But Scarlett didn’t raise her hands to strike him. Instead, she looked at him with hollow eyes and said, “Vincent, let me go.”
Scarlett had no energy left to struggle. She didn’t even feel like speaking anymore.
In that moment, her heart was filled with nothing but dread for Vanessa.
Seeing her exhaustion, Vincent said softly, “Since it’s my fault, let me handle finding her. You’re exhausted. I’ll have someone take you back to Ravenshade Villa.”
Then, as if afraid she wouldn’t believe him, he added quietly, “I swear to you-if I don’t bring Vanessa back safely, I’ll answer for it with my life.”
