Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 515

Chapter 515 Refusing to Bail

Scarlett paused. Then said flatly, “I don’t know.”

:

Vincent didn’t press. He just commanded, “Go post bail.”

She refused without thinking. “Vincent. I’m not going.”

He forced patience into his voice. “I’m not in the city. I’m tied up here. Bailing out Luke has to be you. And don’t let anyone at Stewart Manor find out about this.”

He spoke as if her refusal hadn’t registered at all. Just stated his demands.

Scarlett’s face went cold. “I said I’m not going.”

Vincent faltered. “You-”

She hung up before he could finish.

After the call ended, she stood in the stairwell and let the suffocating weight settle. Then she stepped out.

Damian was right there. His face was tight with worry, like he’d been searching for her.

When she saw him, Scarlett steadied herself. “Why aren’t you resting?”

Damian walked over, his cool gaze fixed on her face. He didn’t answer her question. “Was that Vincent?”

She met his eyes. After a few seconds, she nodded. “Yes.”

Damian understood immediately. “Luke injured someone. It could be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony-but either way, he’s looking at jail time. He’s not getting out of this.”

Scarlett nodded. “Okay.”

Her calm caught him off guard. “What? You’re not going to plead for him this time?”

Her expression hardened. “Luke got what he deserved. It’s just that you…”

She stopped.

Damian finished for her. “What? Afraid Vincent’s going to come after me?”

Her voice was quiet, steady. “Yes.”

Damian’s pale face broke into a deep smile. “Don’t worry. He and I have always been enemies. Even without this, we’re on opposite sides.”

Scarlett murmured, “Okay.”

He stepped closer and gently ruffled her hair. “Relax. I’ve got this.”

She closed her eyes briefly. When she opened them, she asked, “What about Caleb? What did you do to him?”

Damian said casually, “He hurt Clara. I taught him a lesson.”

He said “taught him a lesson”, but Scarlett knew the reality was probably a hundred times worse than his understatement.

She saw the unease on her face and smirked lightly. “Don’t worry. He wouldn’t dare say anything to Vincent. Even if he did, it wouldn’t matter. There’s already no shortage of bad blood between us.”

Scarlett’s voice was tight. “Damian. Vincent holds grudges. Be careful.”

They stood in the corridor, Damian’s tall frame blocking her completely from the rest of the hallway. In his small world, it seemed only she existed.

In their eyes, there was only each other.

Hearing her words, Damian smiled. “As long as you’re on my side, any danger is worth it.”

Scarlett thought he was being glib. She didn’t respond. “I need to get back to Clara.”

She had originally gone out to buy food, but Damian had delayed her, and she’d forgotten.

Damian didn’t step aside. He smiled faintly. “Perfect. I was planning to visit Clara too. Shall we go together?”

Scarlett looked at him, uncertain. “Are you sure?”

Instead of answering, he took her hand.

As he led her toward Clara’s room, he said, “When it comes to you, I don’t joke.”

Scarlett let him hold her hand. She said nothing.

They walked to Clara’s room. Scarlett pushed the door open gently.

Violet heard the sound and turned. When she saw Scarlett and Damian, her weary expression softened slightly.

She looked at Damian, gratitude thick in her voice. “Mr. Langley. Thank you for today.”

Damian hesitated. “You don’t blame me for coming too late?”

Violet gave a faint, tired smile. She shook her head. Said nothing.

Clara, who had been leaning against Violet, turned at the sound of Damian’s voice. Her voice was small, sweet. “Damian.”

Damian sat by the bed and extended his large hand. “Clara. Come here. I want to talk to you, okay?”
