Nolan looked at Sean with reddened eyes. He didn't say a word, but something finally clicked in his mind.

He pushed the half-finished beer aside.

Getting to his feet, he said, "Thanks, Sean. I'm heading over to the Therons' place tomorrow."

With that, Nolan walked out of the bar.

Sean almost called after him, but stopped himself.

He knew Nolan too well—Nolan wasn't the type to fight for things, to push or grab what he wanted.

But maybe that was exactly what Scarlett liked about him.

The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, Scarlett heard voices drifting upstairs.

She grabbed her phone—8:30 already.

After throwing on some clothes, she went into the bathroom to wash up.

By the time she stepped out of her bedroom, she could clearly hear Nolan's voice from the living room below. "Mr. Theron, Mrs. Theron, Violet... I know this is out of nowhere, but I have a request today."

Henry frowned. "What is it?"

Nolan's heart hammered in his chest, but after a brief pause, he spoke plainly. "The reason I came today... is to ask for Scarlett's hand in marriage."

The moment the words left his mouth, Henry and Diana stared at him, stunned. They glanced at each other, completely caught off guard.

Seeing their reaction, Nolan hurried to explain, "I know how sudden this must seem. I'm not expecting an answer right now—and I know it's really Scarlett's decision to make. But I was afraid if I didn't speak up now, I might never get another chance."

Then he picked up a leather folder he'd brought with him and carefully laid out its contents on the coffee table.

"Mr. and Mrs. Theron, this is my driver's license, Social Security card, passport, bank statements, deed to my house, a clean background check, documentation showing I've never been married or had children, and some awards and certifications from work. This is everything I have—everything I am. I just want you to know that if you trust me with Scarlett, I'll dedicate my whole heart to taking care of her."

When he finished, Nolan looked up at Henry and Diana, hope flickering in his eyes.

He knew it wasn't the smoothest approach, but he'd decided to go for it anyway.

Sean was right. Sometimes you have to make your own opportunities.
