That excuse felt flimsy, but Damian didn't push it.
He studied Scarlett's profile for a long moment before suddenly reaching out. "Give me your phone."
Scarlett paused, glancing back at him with confusion in her eyes. "What for?"
Damian didn't feel like explaining. "Just hand it over."
Reluctantly, Scarlett stayed still, neither moving nor responding.
When it became clear she wouldn't give it up willingly, Damian decided to reach for it himself.
But just as his hand neared her, she quickly crossed her arms in front of herself. "Damian, don't try to pat me down. Fine—here."
Watching her flustered reaction, Damian's lips curved into a faint smirk. He straightened slightly, tone playful. "That's more like it."
With no other choice, Scarlett reluctantly passed him the phone.
Taking it, Damian asked, "Passcode?"
"My birthday."
Without missing a beat, Damian entered the numbers—unlocking it on the first try.
Scarlett watched, surprised at how effortlessly he accessed her screen.
Head bowed, Damian tapped through her phone. She couldn't tell what he was doing but didn't ask—just kept watching him, quietly captivated.
He was handsome, with a sharp nose and thin lips that lifted at the corners into a subtle smile.
When he looked down, his lashes softened his gaze, giving him an almost tender look.
After a moment, he pulled out his own phone, tapped a few times, then returned hers.
"Done."
Scarlett took it back, puzzled. "What did you do?"
Damian tucked his phone away and raised a brow. "See for yourself."
Glancing down, Scarlett saw he had enabled location sharing between their devices. Now he could see where she was anytime—and she could see his location, too.
She looked up, startled. "Damian, you..."
He smiled, taking her hand and placing it over his chest. "If I didn't do this, how else am I supposed to keep you close?"
For just a second, Scarlett caught a faint scent of cologne on him—one she didn't recognize. After all these months together, she knew it wasn't his usual one.
She pulled her hand back and shot him a cool look. "Get up. That smell is getting to me."
