Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 804

Deciding sleep was impossible, Scarlett got up early and killed time scrolling on her phone.

A stream of pop-up news alerts kept popping up at the top of her screen, all linked to Vincent.

She'd planned to ignore them, but the nonstop notifications finally made her tap open the links.

The articles announced that Vincent and Sabrina were set to hold their wedding in exactly seven days.

Scarlett lost interest right away and closed out the page. She tried curling back under the covers to catch a quick morning nap, yet sleep eluded her completely.

She pulled up WhatsApp and spotted an unread message from Damian sent at ten the previous night, "Babe, I just got home safe."

Scarlett had been asleep when it arrived and never replied. Another message followed shortly after, "Got a minute later? Come with me to pick out a new car."

After reading the texts, she typed back in confusion, "Don't you already have a car? Why are you buying one?"

Damian shot a fast reply, "Somebody messed up my old ride. I'm ditching it and buying a replacement."

Scarlett rolled her eyes at his excuse but chose not to write back. To her, he simply had more cash than he knew how to spend.

With no written response from her, Damian dialed her instantly via video call.

When Scarlett picked up, she found him still propped up in bed.

He wore soft gray silk pajamas, messy hair falling loosely over his forehead. Unshaven and casual, he looked ridiculously handsome.

Her cheeks flushed without thinking, and she darted her gaze away, too flustered to hold eye contact.

Ignoring her shy reaction, Damian begged into the screen, "C'mon, baby, do this for me. Help me pick out a car you love."

Scarlett frowned, confused. "Your current vehicles work fine. What's the sudden rush for a new one?"

Damian lied smoothly, "I got into a wreck; my car got totaled."

Panic flared across Scarlett's face at once. "You crashed? Why didn't you tell me last night?"

Guilt tugged briefly at Damian, seeing how worried she looked, and he dropped the pretense entirely. "No accident really. Melinda rode in my car last night, so I'm swapping it out for good."

A sharp twinge of sour jealousy pricked Scarlett's chest, a familiar emotion she knew all too well.

She masked her hurt with a flat, indifferent "Okay."
