Chapter 92 An Unwelcome Ride

Damian’s expression turned uncharacteristically solemn. “I purchased that bracelet specifically for you,” he insisted, his voice losing its usual playful edge. “If you won’t accept it, then its very existence becomes meaningless.”
Scarlett met his gaze steadily. “Damian, you should give it to someone who truly deserves it. That would be fairer-both to you and to the jewelry itself.”
With those carefully chosen words, Scarlett had gracefully deflected any underlying intentions Damian might have harbored.
She couldn’t be certain how much of his attention was genuine, but she believed clarity now would prevent complications later.
Nearby, Vincent stood in silence. Though he wasn’t directly watching Scarlett, he was acutely aware of her conversation with Damian.
Beside him, Sabrina monitored Vincent’s mood with subtle attention. She noted that his apparent indifference toward Scarlett didn’t quite match the tension in his posture.
After declining Damian’s persistent offer, Scarlett gathered her gown and departed from the ballroom.
Vanessa was ill, and as her mother, Scarlett couldn’t suppress her mounting concern.
No matter how deeply Vanessa’s words had wounded her, she still desperately wanted Vanessa to be healthy and safe.
Outside the venue, Scarlett waited by the curb for transportation.
Perhaps due to the recent mass departure of guests, securing a taxi proved nearly impossible.
Several minutes passed without a single available car appearing.
Anxiety began to coil tightly in Scarlett’s chest. She repeatedly unlocked her phone, only to realize she had no one to call for help.
Just as panic started to set in, Vincent’s voice came from behind her. “Scarlett Theron.”
He used her full name, his tone deliberately neutral.
Scarlett turned to find Vincent and Sabrina standing together. Sabrina’s hand rested possessively on Vincent’s arm, their combined presence radiating the image of a perfect couple,
Sabrina glanced at Scarlett, her eyes filled with unspoken curiosity. Vincent addressed Scarlett directly, “We’re returning to Ravenshade Villa. You should come with us.”
Scarlett scanned the deserted street once more. Her concern for Vanessa overriding her pride, she finally nodded. “Alright.”
Vincent’s chauffeur pulled the luxury vehicle to the curb.
With three passengers, the seating arrangement became awkward. It would have been inappropriate for

After a moment’s consideration, she walked around the vehicle and opened the front passenger door.
Vincent had already opened the rear door. By the time he straightened up, Scarlett was settling into the front seat. The faint smile on his lips froze momentarily before disappearing.
Recovering quickly, he turned to Sabrina with renewed warmth. “Please, get in.”
Sabrina’s gown trailed elegantly behind her. As she entered the vehicle, part of the fabric remained outside. Noticing this, Vincent immediately bent down and carefully gathered the remaining material, placing it inside with deliberate care before sliding in beside her.
Scarlett sat rigidly in the front, staring fixedly out the window, determined to ignore the couple behind her.
But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. She heard Sabrina’s soft complaint to Vincent, “Vincent, I’m getting a slight headache.”
Her voice was sweet and delicate, bordering on plaintive.
Through the rearview mirror, Scarlett watched Vincent lean closer to Sabrina. He raised his hand, first touching Sabrina’s forehead, then his own, before concluding, “You don’t have a fever. You’re probably just fatigued from the evening’s events. Let me massage your temples for you.”
Sabrina smiled gratefully. “Thank you, Vincent.”
Vincent returned her smile and guided her to turn her back toward him. His hands then rose to massage her head with practiced ease.
Scarlett observed the entire exchange in the mirror. She had grown accustomed to Vincent’s devoted attention toward Sabrina. The sight no longer provoked the sharp pain it once did.
Vincent had never performed such tender gestures for her, yet he offered them so freely to Sabrina.
To him, Sabrina’s comfort likely mattered more than his own.
The thought still brought a dull ache to Scarlett’s heart. Her eyes stung with unshed tears, but unwilling to reveal her vulnerability, she pretended to focus intently on her phone.
At that moment, a new notification appeared. It was from Damjan.
“Darling, I’ve already dispatched the bracelet to you by courier. If you truly don’t want it, feel free to discard it.”
Reading those words, Scarlett felt a heavy weight settle in her chest.
Damian was gambling that she wouldn’t casually dispose of something valued at 100 million dollars.
If she didn’t throw it away, she would be effectively accepting it.
And once accepted, she couldn’t possibly return it to him.
Knowing Damian’s nature, once he gave something, he would never take it back.

Whether his intentions were sincere or merely playful, Scarlett had no desire to be indebted to him.
The more she owed, the more entangled their relationship would become.
Before she could fully process these thoughts, the vehicle came to a smooth stop at the entrance of Ravenshade Villa.
Scarlett quickly exited and hurried inside.
When Vincent emerged, he circled the car to open Sabrina’s door, offering his arm for support.

Sabrina, still constrained by her elegant gown, moved with difficulty, so Vincent allowed her to lean heavily on him.
He was so focused on assisting Sabrina that he completely forgot Scarlett was also wearing a full-length dress.
When Scarlett entered the living room, she found Vanessa crouched by the table, completely absorbed in her toys.
