Sam immediately caught the nervous edge in Madison's voice.
"No, I'm not upset," he said quietly.
When he decided to let Madison handle the matter, he had already expected she might simply release Johnny and Kaitlyn outright. The fact that she made Johnny apologize and forced Kaitlyn into signing a massive debt actually surprised him.
Sam was still processing that when her light, relieved voice came through the phone again. "I'm glad you're not mad."
Then she added, "Oh, Sam, I want to start a private security firm. Could you send someone to walk me through the steps?"
Sam frowned. "Why the sudden idea of opening a private security firm?"
"I want to hire retired veterans to protect me," she replied simply.
"If that's all, you can just contract an existing security firm," he said. "There's no need to establish an actual company, or I can assign people to protect you discreetly."
He didn't mention that he already had people around her. The last thing he wanted was for her to think he was monitoring her.
But Madison didn't know any of that. "I still want to build my own company. I'd feel safer relying on my own people," she insisted.
"Alright. I'll have Brett come over later. Tell him whatever plans you have."
"Thank you, Sam." She hung up after thanking him.
…
Sam set his phone aside and pressed the intercom to call Brett in. When Brett learned he was being sent to Madison's side, his brows knitted. "Mr. Goodwin, Mr. Harlow's already away. If I leave you too, you'll have no one here to assist you."
Sam was unconcerned. "That's fine. Having no one around will give certain people the chance they've been waiting for."
He had only been gone three days. During that time, William had already stripped half the managers Sam had promoted and pushed Ethan into the spotlight.
Clearly, William had enjoyed stability too long and had forgotten who he used to beg to run this company.
