Back in Time to Fall for Him novel Chapter 33

"Jan…" A hoarse voice tinged with guilt echoed in the hallway.

Madison's eyes were red. Her expression was a complicated mix of emotions as she stared at Janet in the private room.

Janet was the heiress of the Burke family and had been Madison's closest childhood friend. But in high school, the two had fallen out completely, thanks to Kaitlyn's manipulations.

Madison couldn't hold back her tears when she recalled what had happened in her past life. After Sam died, Janet realized Madison was in trouble and tried to rescue her, only to have her legs broken by Kaitlyn.

The argument in the room continued.

Kaitlyn glared at Janet, her face red with embarrassment. "Ms. Burke, what's your problem? Are you saying I'm two-faced and that my friendship with Maddie is fake?"

"Isn't it the truth, though?" Janet was just about to say that same line when a clear, cold voice beat her to it.

The private room door swung open. Madison strode in with her head held high and her shoulders squared.

Wearing an off-white V-neck suit, she looked every bit a woman of authority, her presence impossible to ignore. Her features were like finely sculpted porcelain, flawless and breathtakingly beautiful.

Taken aback, Janet stared at her, and the others were equally stunned.

Johnny, in particular, could hardly shift his lustful gaze away.

He had always known Madison was beautiful and had wanted to sleep with her, but every time he tried, Sam would get in the way.

Kaitlyn immediately recognized Madison in her stunning outfit as well, her eyes betraying the jealousy she tried to hide.

As if she suddenly realized something, she whipped her head around to look at Johnny. Her face twisted with anger.

Damn it! She knew it. Once Johnny saw Madison like this, he was bound to be captivated.

Right then, someone finally asked Madison with keen interest after recovering from their shock, "Who are you?"

Madison raised an eyebrow. "What's this? Weren't you guys just going on about me a moment ago? Now you're going to act like you don't know me?"

"You're Madison?" Everyone stared, eyes wide with astonishment, then turned to Johnny as if to confirm whether or not that was true.

Seeing everyone staring at him with envy, Johnny felt rather proud. With a proud lift of his chin, he said, "That's right. She's Madison, my fiancee. Maddie, come sit next to me."

He then turned to Madison with a gentle smile. "You can sit there if that's what you want. Just let me know if you need anything."

Madison continued to ignore Johnny, but the others started teasing him.

"Jeez, how doting can you be, Johnny?"

"Yeah, you're making us envious."

"Madison is so lucky to have you!"

Everyone joked and laughed, as though they hadn't just been insulting her a moment ago.

Janet looked on coldly. Their hypocrisy was making her blood boil.

Turning to glance at Madison, she couldn't help but mock, "You've always had a pretty face, yet you insisted on hiding your good looks for years for some absurd reason. Has something happened lately that made you stop wanting to keep it hidden?

"You're still blind to the truth. Do you want me to give you some money to get your eyes checked? If you don't think it'll help, you should just donate them to those in need."
