Sam met Madison's eager gaze, his expression flickering with conflict. She seemed to have forgotten what she had done to the frame.
Indeed, Madison had forgotten what happened. Realizing Sam hadn't reacted to anything she said, she asked in confusion, "Sam, are you alright?"
Sam came to his senses and replied, "We'll see how. Maybe when we're free."
"Okay!" Madison replied with a smile. She knew that Sam had agreed to it.
His eyes lit up when he saw her smile, and he asked, "How many more documents do you have to go through?"
Madison thought for a while before saying, "About one-third left."
Sam nodded and asked, "I remembered you took Urkish as an elective in college?"
"Yes, I was a few credits short of graduating back then, so I picked a minor language course that would be easy for me to get a high grade. What about it?" Madison looked at him in confusion.
Sam smiled and explained, "There's a document that needs to be translated into Urkish. Since you're familiar with the language, I'll let you translate it."
Madison accepted the job without any hesitation.
Still, she spent the remaining half of the day struggling with that document. After all, so much time had passed, considering she had lived another life before this. She had forgotten many terms and had to look them up.
Just like that, she stayed occupied until evening, yet she had barely finished translating a single page.
She stretched her wrists and looked at the time at the corner of her screen. Realizing it was the end of the day, she looked up at Sam, who was nearby.
Sam had put on frameless glasses, making him look smarter and more attractive.
Perhaps Madison's gaze was burning too deeply into him, Sam looked up to meet her infatuated gaze. He adjusted his glasses and smiled at her. "What is it?"
"Why do you suddenly want to come along?" Sam looked at her in surprise.
At that, Madison suddenly remembered that she once joined Sam for dinner with his family. However, his family hadn't been welcoming to her, so she swore never to return.
At that thought, she smiled awkwardly and explained, "Well, I'm with you now. I can't just keep sitting out the family dinner forever. I might as well join you and get used to it."
Sam couldn't help but be delighted that she was planning for their future. His usual frosty face melted into a tender expression.
However, remembering how his family had been against her, he didn't want her to suffer through a dinner with them. He said gently, "You don't have to force yourself. Even if you don't show up, no one will say anything about it."
Madison was touched because she knew that Sam was looking out for her. She shook her head and smiled, "I'm not forcing myself. Let me accompany you."
She reached out her hand and tugged on his sleeve coquettishly. Sam finally nodded in agreement, seeing how much she wanted to be there.
