Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 122

"Based on the clues you gave me, I narrowed it down to three men named Zeke Stark."

Luna continued, "One is an underage kid. Another emigrated overseas years ago and cut all ties here. That leaves the last one, whose identity and movements match up perfectly."

She paused, her expression turning dead serious. "I dug into this Zeke's network and managed to pull up information on a few of the guys involved that night.

You're the only one who has seen those thugs' real faces. Take a close look and tell me if the men you're looking for are in here."

With that, she unlocked her tablet, pulled up several photos, and zoomed in for Sienna to see.

Sienna lowered her eyes, scanning them one by one, her face an unreadable mask.

It wasn't until her gaze landed on a specific photo that her calm demeanor shattered.

"That's him!"

Sienna pointed at the bald man in the picture, her usually gentle eyes suddenly icing over with pure hostility.

"He was the one leading them that night. I'd recognize him anywhere."

Luna leaned in, her expression darkening as she spat, "I knew it was this bastard!"

She swiped on the screen a few times to pull up a file. "I looked into him. He's a notorious fixer in the underworld.

His name is Cole Thorne, goes by 'Mad Dog.' He specializes in cleaning up shady messes for people. He keeps a rotating crew of thugs, uses fresh faces for every job, and they all vanish the moment it's done.

The crew that came after you was one of his teams, but there are too many of them to track down easily."

"What about the other two?" Sienna asked.

"Gone." Luna put the tablet away with a grim look. "The two you described vanished into thin air the day after the incident. They probably realized you survived and panicked."

Sienna closed her eyes as the terror of that night flooded back, every vivid memory fueling a burning hatred.

A young nurse peeked her head in, looking conflicted. "Dr. Sloan, um... Captain Sterling is out in the hallway. He says he wants to see you."

Sienna's face noticeably darkened.

Taking one look at her expression, Luna instantly understood.

She waved the nurse off, her tone blunt. "Tell him to get the hell out. We don't need a dog who speaks for murderers sniffing around here."

The nurse clearly choked on the sheer hostility of the message, stammering, "Uh? Is that... okay to say?"

"Why wouldn't it be?" Luna glared. "Repeat it to him word for word. Tell him Luna said it."

The nurse gave a stiff nod and fled the room like she was running for her life.

The room was quiet for two seconds before Sienna's phone suddenly rang.
