Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 134

Jarred met her glare, tilting his head slightly.

His eyes crinkled into a handsome curve, his smile brimming with the kind of mockery that made her grit her teeth in hatred.

The police officer coughed dryly, breaking the suffocating silence.

"Um... Ms. Sloan, since you acknowledge having an intimate relationship with Mr. Sterling, please cooperate with our investigation and listen to the victim's demands."

"What demands could he possibly have?" Sienna suppressed her fury, her voice icy.

The officer looked at Jarred, signaling for him to explain.

Jarred shifted his position, crossing his hands over his knee.

He leaned casually against the couch, a hint of playful cynicism in his voice. "It's simple. You all know the Sterling family's situation."

"Too many people are eyeing this piece of meat, and plenty of malicious individuals covet the Sterling fortune. But not just anyone has the right to carry a Sterling heir."

Without letting him finish, Sienna cut him off sharply, her tone leaving absolutely no room for negotiation. "Don't worry. I don't give a damn about the Sterling fortune, and I would never carry your child. Even if I did get pregnant, I'd get rid of it immediately."

Her gaze was filled with revulsion, slicing like a dull knife against Jarred's deeply battered heart.

The hands resting on his knees silently clenched, the veins on the back of his hands bulging.

Yet, his facial expression remained entirely unbothered, even curving into a sneer. "Then we'll count from the day we slept together."

"Medically speaking, you can detect a pregnancy via a blood test as early as nine days later. If you are pregnant by then..."

His voice suddenly softened as his dark gaze locked heavily onto hers.

Hidden within those deep eyes was a profound obsession no one else could comprehend. He enunciated his next words with crystal clarity.

"Have. The. Baby."

Complete silence fell over the hospital room.

The two officers exchanged totally bewildered looks.

One second he was accusing her of coveting his family's wealth and blackmailing him with a pregnancy, claiming not just anyone could bear his child.

Watching her expression shift from confusion, to realization, to outright guilt, his lips slowly curled upward.

It wasn't a big smile, but it was enough to make Sienna want to lunge forward and tear it right off his face.

He clearly knew the truth, yet he was deliberately humiliating her.

"Nothing to say?"

Sienna gritted her teeth, a storm of complex emotions churning in her chest.

Every single word he said was a fact, and she had zero evidence to refute him.

The officers, having gathered the general gist of the situation, quickly stepped in to mediate.

"Well... you two, how about this," one began.

He paused. "Since both parties admit to engaging in sexual relations and acknowledge the possibility of pregnancy, why don't you two negotiate a private solution first? If you can reach an agreement, great. If not, the police can intervene later."
