Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 133

Jarred was looking down at his cufflink, his expression as nonchalant as if he were listening to some stranger's gossip.

Sensing her gaze, he looked up and gave her a slight, provocative raise of his brow.

His expression clearly said: What? Did I say something wrong?

Sienna took a deep breath, telling herself to stay calm.

"And so?" she asked the officers. "What does that have to do with me?"

The officer's expression shifted into something slightly awkward.

He glanced at Jarred, then back at Sienna. "Well, Ms. Sloan, Mr. Sterling's only named suspect... is you."

Sienna thought she had misheard.

"What?"

The officer remained perfectly serious. "Mr. Sterling stated that he has only engaged in intimate relations with one person."

"Therefore, if there is extortion based on the claim of a pregnancy, the suspect can only be you."

"..."

Sienna stared blankly at the officer. She understood every single word, yet pieced together, they were so absurd it almost made her laugh.

Extortion via a pregnancy threat?

Her?

Who was Jarred Sterling? He was a notorious playboy, surrounded by a never-ending swarm of tabloid rumors and women. And now he was claiming she was using a pregnancy to blackmail him?

"That is absolute nonsense."

Sienna scoffed, looking at the man on the sofa. "Mr. Sterling's romantic exploits are known by everyone. Claiming he's gay would be far more believable than claiming I'm threatening him with a baby."

Jarred sat on the sofa, his expression unchanging.

The officer's expression grew even more strained. "Ms. Sloan, we have already investigated and verified this detail."

"Of course," the officer added. "If you dispute these findings, you are welcome to provide counter-evidence."

He leaned forward slightly, his deep gaze locking onto her as he deliberately dragged out his words.

His low, sultry voice carried a purposeful intimacy, grazing against her ear like a soft feather.

"We just slept together a few days ago."

He said it so explicitly.

Sienna's face instantly burned a bright crimson.

Jarred paused again, his eyes lingering on her face. He emphasized his next words, pushing the scandalous tension even further. "And it wasn't just once."

At that, the two police officers awkwardly cleared their throats in unison.

Declan stared intently at the floor, his expression management truly top-tier.

Only Sienna was left with a face so red it looked ready to bleed.

The heat burned from her cheeks all the way to her ears, fueled by a mixture of deep shame and blinding rage. She glared at Jarred with her clear eyes, practically shooting daggers of fire at him.
