Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 137

He lowered his head, pressing a kiss to the corner of her mouth, his voice low and utterly obsessive. "If you dare to tamper with the blood test results..."

His kiss moved to her lower lip, capturing it gently before letting go. "...then don't even dream of ever getting a divorce in this lifetime."

Hearing that final sentence, Sienna felt every last drop of strength drain from her body.

A bone-deep exhaustion washed over her, completely overpowering her anger and her will to fight.

She glared at the domineering, arrogant man before her, grinding her teeth in hatred. "Jarred, you are absolutely shameless!"

Jarred slowly straightened up, planting one hand on the edge of the bed as he looked down from his towering height at her flushed, red face.

That look of total disgust mixed with sheer, helpless frustration tickled against his heart like a soft feather.

The stinging blow to his pride dissipated instantly, entirely replaced by an undeniable tenderness for her.

He reached out and pinched her chin lightly, a flicker of indulgence rising in his eyes that even he failed to notice.

"Be a good girl," he teased. "And you'll get whatever you want."

Sienna turned her head away in disgust and slapped his hand away hard. Her absolute rejection was clear as day; she didn't want him anywhere near her.

Seeing this, Jarred wisely pulled his hand back.

He knew her personality all too well. She seemed soft, but she was as stubborn as a mule.

Pushing her any further would only back her into a corner. With how fierce she was, she might do something that would leave him utterly regretting it.

He turned around without a change in expression, smoothing out his slightly wrinkled cuffs as his tone returned to its usual lazy drawl.

"Focus on resting these next few days. Don't you have that limitless supplementary card? If you get bored, buy whatever you like. Your happiness is what matters."

Those words sounded incredibly ironic to Sienna.

The supplementary card, the family crest, and every other symbol of her status as his wife...

Eleanor had confiscated every single piece of it the moment she first brought up the divorce.

Right now, she had absolutely nothing to her name, not even a decent piece of jewelry.

"Never mind," he said coldly. "Tomorrow, I'll have the boutique bring their haute couture and limited-edition jewelry straight to you. Pick whatever catches your eye."

With that, he strode out the door, moving swiftly as if afraid she would reject him.

Furious at his dictatorial tone, Sienna grabbed the nearest pillow and hurled it at him, only for it to smack harmlessly against the freshly closed door.

Meanwhile.

At Sterling Manor.

Bright and early, Eleanor and Helena sat in the living room, eagerly waiting for news of Jarred and Sienna's divorce.

But when nine o'clock rolled around, the legal team still hadn't sent a single update.

Eleanor's face grew increasingly grim.

Helena frowned deeply. "What's going on? It's already this late, why haven't we heard anything?"

Just as they were wondering, a servant rushed in frantically. "Madam, the young master is back!"
