Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 240

That punch was fast and ruthless, landing silently on Silas Draken's face.

Caught off guard, his head snapped to the side.

Jarred Sterling raised his fist to deliver a second blow.

Sienna Sloan reacted instantly, rushing forward.

She threw her arms wide to shield him. "Jarred, stop it!"

Jarred's fist froze in midair.

He stared at the desperation in her eyes, his handsome face instantly darkening with fury.

"Do you have any idea who he is? Sienna, the women he's played with could line up all the way to the Grand Promenade!"

Sienna stared right back at his enraged expression, a chilling smile touching her lips.

"And in what capacity are you questioning me?"

Jarred stiffened, utterly speechless.

Sienna watched his frozen expression, her smile deepening, though it didn't reach her eyes in the slightest.

"As my ex-husband? Or as... a jerk who flirts with other women but demands his wife stay pure and faithful?"

Every word was like a needle, violently piercing Jarred's chest until he could barely breathe.

His Adam's apple bobbed as he choked down his anger and pain, his voice hoarse. "...You care so deeply even for Owen. Not to mention Celeste saved my life. I really only see her as..."

"In that case, go play guard dog for your savior!"

Sienna cut him off sharply. "She is your responsibility, not mine."

Jarred looked at her red-rimmed eyes, seeing her heartbreaking despair, and his chest ached fiercely.

"Sienna..."

"Jarred, please stop torturing me."

He would rather she cry, scream, and hurl insults at him than treat him like an insignificant stranger.

After the Aston Martin had driven a fair distance away.

Sienna finally noticed the bruise on Silas's jaw through the window's reflection.

She fished a small tube of ointment from her bag.

"Thanks for earlier," she said, passing it to him. "Wash your face and apply this. The mark will be completely gone by morning."

Silas glanced at the tube, took it, and twirled it in his fingers, raising a brow. "No need to thank me, but is this stuff really that magical?"

"Don't use it if you don't believe me." Sienna leaned back against the seat, her gaze returning to the window. "I'm not the one who looks ugly anyway."

She knew Silas too well. The man was obsessed with aesthetics—immaculate, a clean freak, and undeniably narcissistic.

In his car and office, mirrors and grooming tools were everywhere. He cared more about his appearance than most women.

Sure enough, the moment she finished speaking, Silas flipped open the center console mirror to inspect the cut on his lip.
