Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 262

Silas regained his footing and slowly turned around.

Twirling the prop pistol in his fingers, a careless smirk crept onto his lips.

He showed zero panic at the intrusion, merely arching a brow in amusement.

"Well, well. If it isn't the dumped Mr. Sterling. Sticking your nose where it doesn't belong, are we? Since when do Ms. Sloan's affairs have anything to do with you?"

Trapped in Jarred's embrace, Sienna remained completely tense, instinctively struggling to break free.

Jarred's gaze fell on her red-rimmed eyes.

Even though he knew she had only teared up from the smoke,

seeing that flush of pink against her radiant complexion made a violent darkness surge in his chest.

He tore his eyes away and glared at Silas, his expression colder than ice. "As long as the divorce papers aren't finalized, she is still my wife. You don't get to lay a single finger on her."

Silas let out a low chuckle. He lazily spun the prop pistol, his smile turning insolent.

"I was just giving her a little scare. As much of a bastard as I am, I don't lay hands on women."

But in the next heartbeat, the amusement vanished from his eyes.

His inherently reckless features hardened into something ruthless, completely unfazed by Jarred's overpowering presence.

Instead, he took a step forward, meeting Jarred's glare with pure provocation.

"As for you, Mr. Sterling, don't think you can walk all over me just because you have a little power. I don't have boundaries. You laid hands on me just now. Did you really think I'd let that slide?"

He was utterly fearless. A dangerous, unhinged energy seeped from his very bones, as if no one on earth could intimidate him.

Jarred's expression darkened instantly.

He stood solidly in front of Sienna, shielding her completely in his shadow.

Tall and commanding, he was an unshakable mountain.

He looked down at Silas and let out a scoff. "Want to try your luck? I'll even let you call for backup."

He paused, the mockery in his eyes deepening. "I'll even fight you with one hand tied behind my back."

A second later, one of Silas's men stumbled inside, looking completely panicked.

"Mr. Draken, we have a problem!"

The subordinate rushed over, shoving a tablet into his hands.

Silas frowned and took it. As he read the screen, his face twisted into a vicious snarl.

The scandals Sienna had used to blackmail him were now exploding all over the internet.

He was trending everywhere, and the public outcry was deafening.

Anyone with half a brain could tell this was Jarred's doing.

His murderous glare locked onto Jarred, a storm of fury brewing in his eyes.

Standing under the dim lights of the private room, Jarred offered a slow, mocking smile that didn't reach his eyes.

"That was just a warning. If you step out of line again like you did seven years ago, I won't mind tearing your life apart piece by piece."
