Sienna's knuckles turned white around her phone. She lowered her eyes, her eyelashes casting long shadows over her cheeks, hiding the violent storm brewing in her gaze.
Maloney instantly sensed the situation spiraling out of control, and with his usual calm and decisive demeanor, he issued an order.
"Wipe the scene clean. I don't want a single footprint left behind to prove we were here.
Everyone pull out immediately. Leave them absolutely nothing to use against us."
"Yes, sir!"
Sienna climbed back into the car, accompanied by Maloney.
The very next second, her phone rang again. The caller ID showed the Metropolitan Police Department.
Sienna answered, and a stern, authoritative male voice came through the speaker. "Hello, am I speaking with Ms. Sienna Sloan?"
Sienna's fingers went completely still, but her voice remained perfectly level. "Speaking."
"This is the Metropolitan Police Department. We have an ongoing case and need you to come down to the precinct to assist with an investigation and verify some information. Please make your way here immediately."
A chilling glint flashed across Sienna's eyes, but she maintained her absolute composure, agreeing in a calm tone.
It wasn't until she hung up that she realized the fingers clutching her phone were trembling uncontrollably.
Maloney's warm hand wrapped firmly around her wrist. "I've already called Jarred. Don't be afraid, I'm going with you right now."
Sienna leaned back against the seat, completely silent.
Outside the window, the city lights blurred past, casting flickering shadows across her face that made her expression utterly unreadable.
Luna hadn't just started helping her dig into these cases; she was incredibly meticulous and cautious. She had never made a single mistake.
Yet, right at the climax of this massive bait-and-switch operation, she miraculously gets caught red-handed. It was far too perfectly timed to be a coincidence.
Sienna rapidly pieced the chaotic puzzle together in her mind.
Within seconds, an agonizing, freezing rage washed over her eyes as she saw the entire trap for what it was.
This was no accident.
