Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 94

Until Caleb reached Jarred.

"And this is Jarred Sterling, Captain Sterling, the head of the support team." Caleb paused, throwing an extra glance in Jarred's direction.

Earlier, Jarred had casually dropped the fact that Sienna was married, clearly implying they knew each other.

Not to mention, as the captain of the support unit, Jarred's authority was absolute.

Jarred smoothly extended his hand toward Sienna.

A cynical, careless smirk played on his lips, acting as if nothing had just transpired between them in the lounge.

"Dr. Sloan," he drawled lazily. "A pleasure."

Sienna stared at his outstretched hand, lacking the patience for his fake pleasantries.

"Let's get to work," she replied coldly, pivoting on her heel to leave.

"Dr. Sloan, wait!" Caleb hurriedly stopped her. "There's one more support doctor I haven't introduced. The one right next to you, Dr. Carlyle!"

Sienna froze in her tracks.

She turned her head and saw Celeste standing right beside her, wearing a soft, impossibly polite smile.

"Dr. Sloan," Celeste said softly. "I look forward to working together."

Sienna stared at her, a loud ringing filling her ears.

She glared at Celeste in sheer disbelief.

Celeste's medical license had been suspended indefinitely after recklessly medicating the youngest son of the Zellers. She had been exiled from the Capital's medical community.

How the hell was she part of the support team?

Sienna immediately took a step forward, demanding answers from both Celeste and Caleb. "Which hospital is Dr. Carlyle affiliated with? Who dispatched her for this mission?

If I recall correctly, after your little scandal broke, not a single legitimate hospital in the Capital dared to hire you."

Jarred stood nearby, his expression lethal, his eyes locking onto Sienna with a gaze as sharp as ice.

He stepped forward, radiating a bone-chilling aura. Lowering his voice so only she could hear, he ordered, "Sienna, stop making a scene."

Sienna met his glare, listening as he enunciated every word. "Celeste is officially registered as a Volunteer Physician. I brought her here."

Sienna couldn't believe what she was hearing.

She stared blankly at Jarred, searching his eyes for even a shred of guilt.

But all she found was open irritation toward her and fiercely protective resolve for Celeste.

His gaze was terrifyingly cold, brimming with absolute self-righteousness.

Sienna took a deep breath. "Jarred, why are you helping her? Do you not know why her license was suspended? Do you have any idea what she did?"

Jarred's lips pressed into a thin line, his dark eyes staring coldly into hers.
