Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 151

Willow paused, her gaze landing on Asher with mocking disdain. "What? Are you here to tip me off? Since when are you so kind-hearted?"

Asher's heart ached at her biting words, but he knew he had brought this upon himself. He couldn't blame anyone else.

Fighting back his sorrow, his voice softened with guilt. "Willow, I don't mean you any harm..."

Willow scoffed. *No harm?*

"Do you even believe that yourself?" she asked, tilting her head.

Unbidden memories of how he had treated her in the past flooded Asher's mind. He might not have actively hurt her, but wasn't standing by coldly just as malicious?

He lowered his gaze, his chest tightening with regret. "Willow, I just want to warn you to be careful. Don't trust Xavier so easily. I don't know what he's planning, but it's nothing good."

Willow let out a cold laugh, walking right past him without a second glance. "Don't worry. I wouldn't trust a single Shaw, whether it's Xavier or you."

Those last few words were spoken lightly, but they twisted like a knife in Asher's chest. He wanted to say more, but Willow didn't even look back.

Watching her walk away, Asher was painfully reminded of their childhood. The little Willow who used to skip beside him, wrapping her tiny hands around his fingers, her eyes curving into crescents as she sweetly declared he was her favorite.

Back then, she could never bear to turn her back on him.

But now?

Just looking at him made her feel sick.

The stark contrast hit Asher like a suffocating wave of despair. Tears streamed down his face silently until, finally, he broke down and sobbed.

Willow was long gone. Sitting in his wheelchair, staring down the empty street, the agonizing reality finally set in—Willow truly didn't want him anymore.

Consumed by overwhelming panic and regret, he couldn't help but glance at the research lab.
