Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 152

Xavier completely lost his mind. "Are you even human? If Tessa's parents hadn't sacrificed themselves to save you, you wouldn't be alive today! How can you be such an ingrate?!"

The light in Willow's eyes turned to ice. "Xavier," she said, her voice terrifyingly quiet, "I am alive because our mother used her own body to shield me from a kidnapper's blade. It had absolutely nothing to do with the Thornes! In fact, who's to say all the hell I went through wasn't caused by them in the first place?"

Making up lies? Two could play that game.

Who could even prove what really happened back then?

That so-called life-saving grace was nothing but Tessa showing up at the Shaw Estate, crying about how her parents died to save someone else.

There wasn't a single shred of concrete proof.

But because they were dead, every word Tessa said was treated like gospel.

How ridiculous was that?

Xavier was so infuriated he wanted nothing more than to reach through the phone and slap her across the face.

"What the hell are you talking about! Willow, haven't you always wanted Mom's diary? Let me make this clear—if I don't see you in Tessa's hospital room apologizing tomorrow morning, I'll burn the diary to ashes. You'll never get it!"

Willow froze. Then, a sharp laugh escaped her lips.

She laughed until tears pricked her stunning eyes, though her gaze remained utterly venomous.

Emphasizing every single word, she said, "Xavier, sometimes I really wonder if you're a Shaw or a Thorne. To protect an adopted girl, you'd destroy our mother's last memento? You don't even deserve to be her son!"

With that, Willow slammed the phone down.

Her hands trembled uncontrollably.

She couldn't help but think—if their mother were still alive and heard Xavier's words, how brokenhearted would she be?

Xavier stared at his phone, his fury simmering just below the surface.
