Xavier was completely silenced by the barrage of accusations. He opened his mouth several times, but the words died in his throat.
Asher didn't give him time to recover. Staring him down with chilling detachment, he stated, "Xavier, I don't care what you're planning, but if you do a single thing to hurt Willow, I will cut all ties with you."
Xavier looked at him like he was insane. "Are you out of your mind? You're threatening me? Do you even realize who pays your astronomical medical bills?"
Asher let out a sharp laugh. "Do you need a reminder? The moment we were born, our parents split the shares into six equal parts. A massive chunk of The Shaw Group belongs to me. Don't act like you're funding my charity. My shares are the only reason your seat as Chairman is secure."
He paused, his tone laced with malice. "My annual medical expenses barely amount to a single month's dividends. If you really want to balance the checkbook, I have no problem auditing the accounts. I also have no problem transferring my voting rights to the Vice Chairman. Stop using this fake benevolence to control me. I owe you nothing."
With that, Asher spun his wheelchair around and left, leaving Xavier trembling with unadulterated fury.
Why was everyone suddenly turning against him?!
Gritting his teeth, he glared at Asher's retreating back, convinced that his brother was just throwing a childish tantrum.
He wasn't going to back down. He never would.

The next day, Willow was spinning like a top.
She spent the morning at the lab analyzing the targeted medication with Adelina and Tabitha, the afternoon practicing piano with Vivienne, and finally, exhausted, she had to drag herself to the hospital to visit Jasper.
Willow couldn't help but sigh. Who wouldn't feel like an absolute corporate slave with a schedule like this?
Still, she had promised Jasper. It wasn't right to flake on him now.
After grabbing a quick dinner, she bought some fresh fruit and headed toward the medical ward.
