Hearing this, Willow's first reaction was that it was utterly laughable.
She still vividly remembered their vicious reactions when Tessa had smashed her mother's belongings back then.
And now, after all this time, they suddenly remembered she wanted them?
What a joke!
This was almost certainly just another trap to trick her into showing up!
After all, given how sickeningly devoted Leo had been to Tessa in her past life, even if he discovered the truth about the drowning incident, he'd probably find a way to forgive her.
Would he really be that kindhearted?
Willow didn't buy it for a second.
With biting sarcasm, she answered, "Forget it. I don't want to see you. Leo, your very existence makes me sick to my stomach."
The vicious words pierced Leo's heart like icy needles, paralyzing his entire body. He stood there for an agonizingly long time, unable to find his voice. The only sound left was the shrill beep of the disconnected call.
Willow had hung up.
Willow had called him sickening.
His pupils trembled violently, his breathing growing increasingly ragged as all color drained from his face.
Xavier furrowed his brow, shooting Leo a scrutinizing look. "Did she agree?"
Leo didn't answer. He just dropped the phone onto the hospital bed and walked out like a soulless corpse.
Watching him leave, Xavier's frown deepened.
Leo's behavior had been far too bizarre lately.
After leaving the room, Leo didn't go anywhere in particular. He just stood by an open window, letting the cold wind hit him.
He had absolutely no idea what to do to make Willow hate him just a little less.
They used to be so close in the beginning.
