Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 18

If they enjoyed having an affair so much, she'd make sure the whole world knew about it!

Did they really think she was still their punching bag?

She slammed her laptop shut. Before she could even catch her breath, Leo's call came in like the grim reaper.

Expressionless, she declined the call. Relentless, Leo sent a text: [It's been two hours! Willow, how long do you expect us to wait?! Do you want the bracelet or not?!]

Annoyed, Willow fired back: [One more word out of you and I won't show up at all.]

Leo stared at the screen, utterly stunned.

Growing up, Willow had always been a desperate people-pleaser. If he so much as initiated a conversation, she would be elated for days.

No matter how awful he was to her, she always walked on eggshells trying to keep him happy. Since when did she speak to him like this?

He was furious and wanted to curse her out, but terrified she actually wouldn't come, he forced himself to swallow his rage.

It was infuriating! Willow had no money and zero connections, yet she had slipped right out from under their noses and completely vanished!

He had asked Elias where she was, but for some inexplicable reason, the rundown apartment complex Elias mentioned had suddenly upgraded its security to military-grade levels. Leo couldn't even get past the gates! Dragging her back by force was entirely out of the question.

Leo's face twisted in anger, but all he could do was wait.

Four agonizing hours later, Willow finally strolled up to the front door. Leo ripped it open, glaring at her. "You actually dared to show up? Do you have any idea how late you are?!"
